The Red Desert Humane Society is a non-profit organization dedicated to the placement of previously homeless animals in new, loving environments.
We alter and vaccinate all animals prior to placement, and screen all applicants to ensure a lifelong match between people and pets. We also educate the community about the importance of spaying and neutering pets, proper pet care, and animal welfare. We place dogs and cats in loving, forever homes!
We receive no federal, state or local funding, and operate completely on donations. Many thanks to our donors for all their generosity. Your acts of kindness make life possible for many happy, healthy, furry creatures. We can't do it without you!
We are also always in need of in-kind donations. Right now we are looking for the following: Dog Food/Puppy Food (No Ol'Roy or Alpo please! Grain Free puppy and adult are best) Cat Food/Kitten Food,Medical Supplies such as (Vet Wrap, used E-Collars),Lint Rollers.
If you would like to volunteer at our shelter, help with public events, fundraising, public relations, etc., you will be giving the greatest gift of all: your time and love. We always need loving people to come play with and socialize the wonderful animals every day. Please contact us using the phone number and email address provided below.
We offer any Senior pet (7 or older)
We also offer a senior discount (65 or older), all pets are also half off.
We also have a fabulous BOGO program ... adopt a cat or dog at full adoption rates, and get a buddy for your new buddy for half the adoption fee! A great way to make two critters very happy!
Thanks to volunteers, staff, and active board members our shelter has undergone new and exciting changes!! Come take a look! Thank you to our dedicated board members!
All applicants are screened and a home visit is conducted to ensure the best match between you and the pet you wish to adopt. Our screening process takes 1-2 days depending on the application. If you rent your home we will contact your landlord prior to approving your application. If you have current pets in the home we will call your vet to make sure all pets in the house have been kept up-to-date on vaccinations as well as spayed or neutered (unless there is a medical issue preventing this). Your honesty during the application process will ensure that you are getting the best pet for your family as well as proving the best forever home for that animal.
To keep in mind when you're considering adoption: we do not allow dogs to be kept on chains and we do not allow dogs or cats to be kept solely outdoors. The animals in our care are full of joy and affection -they deserve to be your cherished companions!
Our fees are $100 for dogs, $120 for puppies, $40 for cats and $50 for kittens. Also on puppies and kittens that are too young to be altered there will be a $75 deposit for puppies and $25 for kittens until you show proof that you got it done. Spaying/neutering your new pet, and providing vaccinations.
We also welcome any inquiries from breed rescue organizations concerning the adoption of our purebred animals. We have the most respect for all the dedicated and hardworking people giving their all for the breed they love, and will be glad to work with any breed rescue organization that believes in spaying/neutering.
