2) After reviewing your application, the we will contact you.
3) Take home your first foster animal!

Frequently Asked Questions:
Q: Can I choose which animal I’m willing to foster?
A: Yes, You can specify what type of animal you are willing to foster, dog or cat, puppies or kittens, sick or injured. It’s your choice.
Q: I have pets of my own, it that okay?
A: Yes, you can foster even if you have pets of your own as long as your pets vaccinations are current. Waverly Pet Rescue provided any medication
needed for the foster animals; however we are not able to treat foster parents own animals if they have medical issues arise.
Q: What supplies do I need to foster an animal?
A: LOVE! Food, litter, toys, training. Indoor home only.
Q: What happens if my foster animal becomes ill?
A: Contact Waverly Pet Rescue immediately by email in case of an extreme emergency. If these is no time to wait, take to your own vet and we will pay the bill later.
If it is not an emergency but something that needs looked at, email and we will set up an appointment with one of the vets we work with.
Q: How Long will I foster an animal?
A: Every case is different. Foster care can take anywhere from a few days to a few months, depending on the reason for fostering. For example, if you are available for two weeks,
you will only have the animal for two weeks. However there may be times when you are asked to keep a foster animal longer than the initial estimated time. Any amount of time that you can volunteer is helping an animal and us.
Q: If I spend time fostering an animal, will it find a home?
A: The majority of foster care animals are placed into new homes. We understand that bond can be formed between you and your foster animal so we will do everything we
can to make sure that your foster animal gets placed into a loving home. Foster parents are also encouraged to help find their foster animals a home by having friends or family fill out our application.
Q: Can I adopt my foster animal?
A: Our foster parents often become attached to their foster animal and wish to make them a permanent family member. So yes, you can adopt your foster pet!

**Our Organization**

Waverly Pet Rescue has been in continuous operation since August, 2006.
The organization was conceived and is operated by a fifth generation Waverly
native with a passion to help homeless animals.
Waverly Pet Rescue primarily serves small towns in northeast Iowa without
animal shelters or other means to care for homeless animals.
Waverly Pet Rescue animals live in loving volunteer foster homes until
adopted… no matter how long that takes.

Waverly Pet Rescue finds homes or suitable no-kill placements for
approximately 500 homeless cats and dogs each year.

During the past nine years, Waverly Pet Rescue has grown into a network of
foster homes, caring veterinarians and other volunteers, each bringing their
own skill set and love of animals to the organization.

Waverly Pet Rescue operates solely from donations and adoption fees.
We do not receive any grants or funding from the communities we serve.

Our administrative expenses are minimal, but the veterinary bills for our
animals are significant. Each animal is fully vetted before entering a foster
home and we always give our animals the care they need…sometimes at great
expense. Often, the adoption fee for an animal does not begin to cover the
actual cost to Waverly Pet Rescue for that animal’s expenses.

**Donations Needed**

**Adopting a friend: IMPORTANT**

1. Waverly Pet Rescue does not hold pets. If asked for further information,
you should provide it as soon as possible or another home meeting all qualifications may
be chosen to adopt the pet you want. Please arrange to see the animal you
want as soon as possible because again, we do not hold them.

2. We do not adopt on a first come, first served basis. We select the best home.

3. We reserve the right to refuse anyone a pet, for any reason. We are devoted
to the animals in our care and do all we can to make sure they are placed in good
homes.

4. Waverly Pet Rescue is operated solely by volunteers. Please be patient with
our response back to you.

5. All prospective adopters are required to complete the application and interviewing
process before adoption approval.

6. No dogs will be adopted if they will be kept strictly outside. Cats will only
be adopted if they are to be kept strictly inside. If not already done,
all animals must be spayed or neutered within 30 days of adoption.
