Our Pet List

A cat has absolute emotional honesty: human beings, for one reason or another, may hide their feelings, but a cat does not. Ernest Hemingway

Featured Pet of the Month:

Look who is our Pet Of The Month. : Moses is a white 3 year old male kitty who needs a new foster, foster-to-adopt, or forever home. He is in danger in his current foster home from a resident dog. His current foster mom wanted to adopt him and is heartbroken to lose him but needs for him to be safe. Moses is a very lovable big tomcat with a loud purr who likes to talk, sit in your lap and be petted, and rub up against your legs. He would probably be best as an only cat. He did get along with some kittens in his current foster home and was playful with them, but he did not get along with an adult cat (although that other adult cat did not like other cats herself). He can nip when overstimulated and sometimes gives what just seem to be love bites, so he needs someone who could be tolerant with that. A home with no small children would be best. Do you or someone you know have room in your heart and home for this handsome guy who needs his forever home? Call (203) 375-7009 today.

Winkin's Spot -Spring Has Finally Sprung

It has been kind of quite the last few months with cat situations. Well, that all changed very quickly! In the past few weeks, we have taken in 4 moms with a total of 18 kittens! We are in desperate need of foster homes. Fostering can be a bit of work but is so rewarding. There is nothing like saving a tiny life and watching them thrive. SCP furnishes all needed supplies and assumes responsibility for vet care and finding homes for them. If interested, text Karin at (203) 455-7564.

Of Special Note: Due to our busy work schedules, it is getting difficult to get a newsletter out once a month. We will be doing one every other month starting with this May 2017 issue. Follow us on facebook as we will post all of our events on our timeline there. Also, check out our webpage at for information as well.

Cat Tips: Holistic Medicine Can Be an Important Tool for Feline Health

As complementary medicine such as acupuncture, homeopathy, chiropractic, and herbal medicine have gained acceptance in the human medical world, they have also become a part of veterinary treatment. These techniques should not replace regular veterinary care, but they can help a great deal in the management of chronic illness and pain. If you do seek holistic veterinary care, be sure to check that the practitioner is licensed by a national organization, and be aware that some techniques can only be practiced by veterinarians.

Stratford Cat Project, Inc. (SCP) is a federally recognized, non-profit organization. We are a group of residents concerned about the feral cat population and dedicated to rescuing the homeless and abandoned cats of Stratford. SCP is an all volunteer organization. We are not a shelter. All the cats that we help are fostered in our homes. We are presently operating solely on private donations and fund-raising. All proceeds and donations go directly to help Stratford cats.

Volunteers Needed: Love cats? Have free time? Want to help? The Stratford Cat Project is always in need of volunteers. Fostering, helping out at fundraising events and adoptions and soliciting donations are just some of the ways you can participate. Please call us at 203-375-7009 if you are interested in helping our feline friends.

There is so much joy in knowing you have helped us save some kittens or adult cats in need as you help them get ready for their forever home. We furnish all supplies needed to care for our cats/kittens and provide a support system. Our adoptable kitties numbers are always growing, and it is sometimes necessary to turn strays away as our current foster homes become overcrowded. Please, if you can help, or if you know someone who can help, call 203-375-7009 today.

Our Wish List

URGENT: We presently have 60 cats that we are housing. We are always in need of food and litter. While our foster home number is lower we also have a food bank that provides food to families that cannot afford to feed their pets and helps caretakers of feral cat colonies. If you can make a donation, please call us at (203) 375-7009. Also, donations can be dropped off at 85 Champion Terrace, Stratford (on back patio) weather permitting.
Another way you can help - Please save all your cat food and litter coupons for us. Also, we save the PAW Points from Fresh Step Litter and redeem for coupons for free litter. Coupons and PAW Points can be mailed to: Stratford Cat Project, P.O. Box 1261, Stratford, 06615 or can be dropped off at any of our events.
Supply Donations Always Needed: We are in need of Friskies canned and dry food, wet wipes, trash bags 4, 8 and 13 gallons size, cat condos, litter, stamps, Walmart gift cards, bleach, scratching posts, rugs for cages, small plastic bags and paper towels.

Want to help but don't have time to volunteer or foster? How about sponsoring a cat? A sponsor is someone who is willing to make a monthly donation for the care of one of our long term feline friends. As we all know, kittens are easy to find homes for. Sometimes it takes much longer to find a home for the adult ones. A sponsor will receive a picture of the cat they sponsor and are always welcome to visit. If you are interested in becoming a sponsor, please call Karin at 375-7009.

We do require that an adoption application and agreement be filled out. There is an adoption fee of $125.00 for adult cat (1 year and up) and $150.00 for kitten (up to 11 months) All of our cats (adult or kitten) are spayed/neutered before adoption. All of our cats are tested, wormed and have received their age appropriate shots.

If you are interested in adopting a cat or a kitten or if you would like to know more about our organization please contact us at the e-mail below.
