Foster Homes Desperately Needed
Foster homes provide second chances to homeless dogs. Fostering means welcoming a senior dog into your home for an indeterminate period of time. They will be a loved and cared for member of your family until the time a carefully screened permanent home is found.
There is no conceivable way shelters can take in and care for the number of stray and owner surrendered animals that come through their doors. There is simply not enough space. By fostering, you open a kennel at the shelter for one more dog.
Put simply - fostering saves lives.
Please visit SeniorDogHaven.org and go to the Ways to Help section, if you would like to foster and give a senior dog a chance for a new beginning.
Sometimes people think that the only way to really help a rescue is by fostering. Although fosters are an integral part of any rescue organization, there are so many others ways you can help. We need volunteers with a variety of skills to help with fundraising; at adoption events; to write press releases and grants; to transport animals; to work with the media; to do home visits for potential adopters; to call references; and in many other areas. If you would like to help in our efforts to give senior dogs a second chance, please visit us at SeniorDogHaven.org and go to the Ways to Help section for a volunteer application.
Senior Dog Haven & Hospice is a registered 501(c)3. All donations are tax deductible to the fullest extent of the law. Monetary donations are always needed and greatly appreciated.
Donations of blankets, food, treats, wee wee pads, cleaning supplies and non-expired medications are deeply valued and can be put to great use in our foster and hospice homes. This type of in-kind donation is also presently not tax-deductible.
Thank you for your support.
The goal of Senior Dog Haven & Hospice is to find the best home possible for our senior dogs. To assist us in this endeavor, SDH&H requires a fully completed application, references and a visit to your home by one of our trained volunteers.
Senior Dog Haven & Hospice, Inc. (SDH&H) was formed in June 2012 by four Delaware residents. The purpose of SDH&H is to rescue the increasing number of homeless or soon-to-be homeless senior dogs (age 7 and above) from area shelters and place them in temporary volunteer foster homes with the purpose of finding them new loving forever homes. We will also accept terminally ill senior dogs and those too old or frail too be part of our adoption program, and place them into experienced permanent foster homes where they will live as a family member until their end. Our activities will focus initially on homeless senior dogs in shelters or being surrendered by their owners in the Tri-State (DE, MD & NJ) area.
Thank you for considering offering a home to a homeless senior dog!
