Safe Haven Dog Rescue

PO Box 604
Elburn, IL 60119

Our Mission

Safe Haven Dog Rescue was created by volunteers to rescue, rehabilitate, and find loving homes for homeless dogs and puppies. The majority of our dogs and puppies are rescued from Kill Pounds and Shelters.

We are all foster based, meaning we do not have an actual “shelter”. We work very hard to find local rescue groups within these states to pull the dogs into their program while we coordinate transportation and placement into foster homes.

We are dedicated to disclosing everything we know about the dogs in our program to potential adopters. Sometimes we know a lot but, often we know only that they were strays, thrown away on the side of the road, in the woods, or found in abandoned houses.

While we don’t always know their past we are certain that by rescuing and finding them loving homes, we will make sure their future is much brighter. We hope that you and your family will be part of their future….

 Foster Homes Always Needed!

While you foster, we pay all expenses from vetting, to food and we provide a crate, leash, collars, and toys. Your family provides love (something they desperately need!) and a safe place for the dog or puppies until they find their forever homes. We also require that you have the ability to take these pups to routine veterinary visits at our participating vets. These vets are located in Geneva, South Elgin, Wheaton, Naperville, and Elmhurst. Spay/Neuters are done in Geneva, South Elgin, and North Aurora locations only.

Please email foster@safehavendogsil.org for a foster application or additional details.

Adoption Policy

Standard adoption fee is $375 (cash or check, $10 additional for credit card) and includes spay/neuter when age appropriate at our participating vets, age appropriate core vaccinations, deworming, current on flea and tick preventative and heartworm preventative, 1st vet visit at one of our participating vets, and micro-chipping and an offer of 30 days of shelter care insurance.

We must have an application, conduct a phone interview, and meet your entire family to approve an adoption.
