Rainbow Bridge Can Wait Animal Rescue and Adoption
Donate a Kuranda Dog Bed
April is National Animal Cruelty Prevention after receiving Sunshine and Casey and so many other cases, I think every month should be prevention to animal cruelty Featured Story is Maryann AKA Maya and Ginger who not only made a full recovery but have been adopted to brothers....so they are still able to romp together.
Create Your Own Our dogs love to sleep on Kuranda Dog beds, but we don't have enough for everyone. If you would like to donate a bed at a special wholesale price for a another dog to sleep in comfort, please donate a Kuranda dog bed.
WE WOULD LIKE TO GIVE THE PEDIGREE FOUNDATION A VERY BIG THANK YOU FOR ACCEPTING US FOR THEIR GRANT.
PLEASE HELP US HELP THEM, DONATE TODAY.
A big Thank you to Pedigree foundation for the grant to help our friends. This grant is to be used for the Spay/neuter of the dogs only.
Valerie thank you for your donation;
In honor of Lacey a donation was made on her behalf, she was a little boston mix in the kill shelter, a nice couple was interested in her, sadly she died shortly after we got to her....they donated to our homeless companions, to spite never having met Lacey to honor her short life.
I return all calls after 7:00 pm....If you have tried by phone and had no response then please do e-mail me firstname.lastname@example.org.....I have had a lot of problems with my land line. please no calls after 9:00 pm.
Our goal is to save lives from the local kill shelters, we are not a dumping ground for irresponsable owners. To many people are using the rescue for a dumping ground...getting cute little puppies and when they become an adult and not so cute turn them in just to go and get another puppy.
We will no longer accept owner surrenders if they are not up to date on ALL shots and/or spayed/neutered. If you feed it....it is yours.....Oklahoma State Law.
A responsable owner will already have their animal completely vetted.
I work 40 hr a week, have the rescue out of my home and tend to the needs of the animals when at home, I am getting ready to spend 1,000.00 on vetting for 8 dogs and some cats. My gas my time and 400.00 of my own money.....there are no volunteers, donations are few and far between. I am not complaining I just want you to understand that I am only one person and there is only so much I can do.....alone. I love the animals and as long as there is a breath in me I will do what I can for them, however I will no longer be taken advantage of.

Who We Are
We are a small no-kill rescue working towards educating the public about Spay and Neuter. We also want to educate our community as well as the surrounding communities about humane treatment of these wonderful companions.
Your adoption fees go towards the care of the companions; with them another life can be saved.
I would also like to have you help me start a group of what I will call "OPERATION WATCH DOG"....often small rescues and animal control don't have time to get online and search for pure breed rescue groups...it would be helpful if people would just let some of the rescues know that there is ONE OF THIERS in a high kill situation, I try to place all pure breed dogs into thier rescue group, my space is limited so I take the hard to place mixes when I can........there again I have to be careful not to get too many of what I call "lifers".......companions who are less attractive, older, or big and black. Most pure breed rescues will do what it takes to get the dog out and depending on room they sometimes take mixes. Except, Lab rescue Labs and Lab mixes are so over breed there is no room for them, they are putting to sleep registered labs in OK, and TX.
What I do personally for the companions
I work 40 hrs a week; I have the rescue out of my home on two acres there are 5 yards and 7 outdoor kennels. The smallest kennels are 6x18 and there are 4 of them the rest are a lot bigger. All are kenneled at night and while I am away….(for their safety), the rest of the time they have play time in one of the yards, where there is a pool (seasonal) , bones, and toys. They all have houses and pools in the runs, which are cleaned daily. There are no chains or mass water and food feeders. They are given attention, food and water everyday, rain, sun, sleet or snow. I own 2 companions a Rottweiler (a gift) and a Rat Terrier (a rescue) and 2 others have decided to own me a Chihuahua (Boo), and a chow mix (Lucy) all rescues. I have recently inherited my fathers dog a 14 yr old Scnauzer/chihuahua (Gizmo). The first year the rescue cost a little over $14,000.00 I received $7,000.00 in donations, the rest I kicked in……you may ask why is she telling me this? I am telling you this because the hate mail (for posting the pound dogs) gets me down I realize that you have to take the good with the bad, I don’t know what more I can do for these wonderful babies. Maybe the question to ask is what are you doing to help these babie? The city pound had a kill rate of 100% it is about 25% now, which in my opinion is still too high.
I do this simply because it IS THE RIGHT THING TO DO.
Thanks for taking the time to read this.
Rainbow Bridge Can Wait
Low cost spay and neuter clinics nation wide.
I realize the need for these companions to be seen, and I know people want to save them.
Please remember we only post the ones that show no aggression. There is no way to evaluate them as far as housebreaking, good with cats, or children.
Adopting one of the companions that have been taken in from the kill shelter and evaluated makes room for me to pull another one.
So if you are looking for a companion and are willing to take on the training process of a pound companion then great, we sure don’t want them to end up back in another pound.
If not please consider adopting one from our shelter and saving two lives.
At first I tried to save them all and quickly realized that with a full time and part time job there was just no way I could do this alone.
I have a couple who will do some transports provided I pay their gas…. which is great because I do work full time.
I resigned my position as ACO Jan 2008, (lack of safety equipment) after 3 yrs of hearing will get you something, I realized I could no longer jeopardize my safety, after all who would take care of my rescued friends.
I still want to help the pound animals, as they would not even be seen if I didn’t post them; I am the ONLY rescue in Caddo County, which is one of the largest county’s in OK.
We are a 501 (c) 3 organization and your donations are tax deductible.
Did you know that 70,000 animals are born each year, and only 10,000 people are born?
The average animal lover owns 3 animals.
The sad fact is Oklahoma and many other states have a 95% kill rate. Simply put 4 out of 5 puppies will either die or end up in a shelter or rescue before they are a year old. Please paste this link into your browser http://www.stoppuppymills.org/video.html. One day I pray there will be no need for my services!

SEE YOU ON THE OTHER SIDE MY BELOVED BABIES
Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge.
When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge. There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together. There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.
All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor. Those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by. The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.
They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent. His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.
You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.
Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together....
