Rescue Me

By Terri Onorato

Rescue me not only with your hands but with your heart as well. I will respond to you. Rescue me not out of pity but out of love. I will love you back. Rescue me not with self-righteousness but with compassion. I will learn what you teach. Rescue me not because of my past but because of my future. I will relax and enjoy. Rescue me not simply to save me but to give me a new life. I will appreciate your gift. Rescue me not only with a firm hand but with tolerance and patience. I will please you. Rescue me not only because of who I am but who I'm to become. I will grow and mature. Rescue me not to revere yourself to others but because you want me. I will never let you down. Rescue me not with a hidden agenda but with a desire to teach me to trust. I will be loyal and true. Rescue me not to be chained or to fight but to be your companion. I will stand by your side. Rescue me not to replace one you've lost but to soothe your spirit. I will cherish you. Rescue me not to be your pet but to be your friend. I will give you my undying love. In hopes for a wonderful Year for all animals who need someone to rescue them.

OUR FIRST PETFINDER ADOPTION! Stella is a gentle, sweet, fun-loving little doll. About 7 months old, she spent most of her life living on a construction site, fed by the workers but otherwise left on her own. When we took her into our home, she blossomed into an amazingly calm, happy kitty. She has an enormous purr, and will follow you around, play with you, snuggle in your lap, and sleep with you.

NOW, she has found her new forever home. A lovely, compassionate 12-year-old, Marisa, had been patiently waiting a long time for a cat. She even saved her own money for the adoption fee. The right time finally came for Marisa and her family, and it was also the right time for Stella. Love at first sight, this tail tale has a very happy ending (beginning)!

Who We Are And Our Mission

PURRBARK is a small rescue and re-homing operation. Our goals are to help ease dog and cat suffering in our local community by doing our part to help end the heartbreaking companion animal overpopulation problem, while at the same time doing everything we can to help this particular cat or dog in our care right now find a happy and healthy home, where he or she can love and be loved. Each and every animal is intrinsically valuable, deserving of our highest and best efforts. We strongly believe that every animal can contribute to and better a person's quality of life - so doing good is good for you.

In concrete terms, this means we take unwanted Collies, Shelties and all kinds of cats into our home, bring them to a wonderful veterinary hospital in our neighborhood, have them treated for anything that needs treating, vaccinated, and spayed or neutered. Then, we look for good homes. Like yours!

PURRBARK is all about communication. Cat purrs and dog barks are communications, and we are here to do our best to communicate with you, find out what you want in a companion animal and what you have to offer, and then make the best possible match. Leonardo DaVinci said *The smallest feline is a masterpiece*. We definitely agree!

Adopting a friend

Every adoption is unique, and every adoption is fun. The general process is as follows:

Soon we will post an Adoption Application on this website. For now, please email us with basic information about where you live and work, and then a couple of paragraphs about what you are hoping for in a companion cat or dog, and why.

Our email address is: purrbark@aol.com

We will review the information you give us and then contact you for a telephone conversation or two about your home and the animals we have available. If it makes sense to you and to us to take the next step, we agree on a mutually convenient time for you to come to our home to meet our foster animals in the place they feel comfortable and safe.

Come visit! Different things can happen at this point. Some people take an animal home right away. Some like to think about it, then call us and come back. Others feel that they havenít met their new friend yet, and want to keep looking.

If you decide to adopt, we will ask you to read and sign our adoption contract, and pay an adoption fee of $50. A home visit is part of this process, and if we havenít been to your home yet, we will give you and your new family member a ride home. Finally, if an adoption doesn't work out (rare, but it happens) we will take an animal back, no guilt trip, no questions asked, at ANY time ... for the lifetime of the animal. No one gets euthanized; the cat or dog will be re-adopted, and the original family may re-adopt as well.
