Penny Angels Beagle Rescue

Our Pet List

Who We Are

Penny Angels Beagle Rescue was formed in 2001 and is a non-profit organization whose mission is to safely find homes for unwanted, abandoned, injured, senior or stray beagles. We are dedicated to rescuing unwanted beagles from shelters or private homes. Every beagle that comes to Penny Angels is tested for heartworms disease, brought up to date with vaccinations, microchipped, and spayed or neutered. If a beagle requires extra medical care, it is provided.

Adopting a Beagle

We at Penny Angels Beagle Rescue love our Beagles as members of our families. If you intend to adopt from us, we expect the same loyalty. Although we realize family situations can change and unexpected, tragic events can happen, we expect adoptive families to make a lifetime commitment to their dog. If you do not intend to make such a commitment, please strongly reconsider your decision to adopt.

If you have children under the age of five, please seriously reconsider your decision to adopt a beagle. We have had beagles returned to Rescue because of incidents with very young children. A small child may not know how to properly interact with a beagle, which could in turn frighten the dog and cause him to growl and possibly bite. Being bitten can leave your child with a fear of dogs. We hope that you choose to make beagle adoption a happy experience for everyone by waiting until your children are older.

Petsmart Adoption Days

We bring the adoptable beagles to Petsmart in Mays Landing, NJ (609-677-1620) on Saturdays from 11:00- 3:00 pm. Approved adoptions are from 11-2:30 pm.

Please stop by to visit our homeless Beagles and make a new friend! If you are interested in adopting one of our beagles, please contact us directly so we can start the adoption process. You will need to fill out an application and be pre-approved prior to adoption. We require both personal and vet references. We need to be able to verify that you are either a homeowner or rent a property that allows you to have pets. Having a fenced yard is a plus! If you are unable to keep your adopted beagle, he or she must be brought back to our rescue as stated in our contract. If you are having problems with your beagle, please contact us early so that we can help you find a solution to your problem before it is too late.

The adoption fee for adult dogs is $175.00. The adoption fee for puppies up to the age of 1 year is $300.00. Our rescued beagles are altered, microchipped, heartworm tested, and up-to-date with vaccinations prior to adoption. Cash or checks made out to Penny Angels Beagle Rescue are acceptable forms of payment.

Become a Penny Angels Sponsor for a Special Beagle

We have started a Sponsor program for the rescued beagles that are not adoptable and will live out the remainder of their days with Penny Angels. Many of these beagles came from unfortunate living situations and are afraid, timid or not suitable for adoption due to medical or behavioral issues. A contribution of $10.00 per month or $100.00 per year will be used for food, medical care, medicines, toys and treats. In exchange, we will send you a color photo of the beagle you are sponsoring and a description of your new beagle friend. You can sponsor any of our beagles during the year. Thank you for your support!

A Word About Hunting Dogs

Some of the Beagles coming through the Rescue are former hunting dogs. These Beagles easily adapt to indoor living and appreciate a warm, comfortable home. Having a fenced yard is good for these beagles because it gives them the opportunity to safely track small animals, an activity they truly enjoy. Leashed walks are another activity they love. These beagles aren't always as playful as other dogs at first, but generally love to be with people and make ideal companions. If you are considering adopting a Beagle, please do not rule out retired hunting dogs; they have spent their lives serving mankind and deserve a chance to enjoy the good life.

Advantages of Adopting an Adult Dog

Many adult dogs are already housebroken. The size and temperament of the dog is already known. Most adult dogs are beyond the puppy "chewing stage". They are generally calmer and easier to handle. Many adult dogs know basic commands and walk well on a leash. Puppies get adopted fairly quickly. When you welcome an adult dog into your home, you are truly saving a life!
