Our Featured Pet...

This site features all the wonderful cats available for adoption that were taken during the May 1, 2003 major cruelty case in Denton, MD. Please read on....

On May 1, 2003, the Caroline County Humane Society in Ridgely, Maryland made national headlines with an animal hoarding case, dubbed ?Operation May Day?, in which 309 live animals were removed from a local home in Denton. Eighteen dogs and 292 cats were removed from the home after reports were made to the Humane Society concerning the condition and welfare of the animals. Tragically, many other animals at the site were found dead. The case reached national attention as the largest extraction of animals from a residential home in U.S. history.

The Grateful Paws organization has transferred the Mobile Spay/Neuter clinic to the Caroline County Humane Society. If you have spay/neuter needs, please contact CCHS at 410-820-1600.

Adopting a friend

The cats you will visit here on this site are ready to move on to permanent homes. Grateful Paws and CCHS have worked jointly on this "May Day" project to rescue, return to health, and now rehome these wonderful, resilient, and loving cats.

All of our Mayday cats are spayed or neutered, up to date on vaccinations, including rabies, have been tested repetitively for Feline Leukemia and Feline Immunodeficiency Virus(FIV). Complete medical records will be provided to the adopter.
