According to documents filed with the court, the Lincoln County Health Department has been involved with Warren and her animals since 2013.  The situation escalated in April 2016 when Health Department director Kathi Hooper and Lincoln County animal Control Officer, Wendy Anderson, contacted Warren after receiving complaints of dogs barking at a property hear Crossway Avenue in Libby.  Hooper and anderson visited Warren's residence on April 21, 2016, and again on June 30, 2016.  The two reports detail sub-standard living conditions including overcrowding, lack of food and water, and extreme temperatures.  In addition to the dogs, several horses and donkeys were on the property as well as goat, chickens and a large cage of birds.Animals Removed and Charges Expected in Libby, August 2, 2016  - 53 Poodles, 6 Donkeys and 63 Birds

If you are unable to do this, KPFL, with some financial assistance from the County is actively offering a spay/neuter program. If you need help to spay or neuter your pet call 293-kpfl (5735).

Adopting A Friend

We always have pets available for adoption.  If you don't see a photo of the dog or cat you are looking for, please stop by the Shelter or give us a call as it is difficult to be up to the minute with photos.  We are all volunteers and many of us have full time jobs besides volunteering at KPFL.

The following links will help you with the adoption process.

Who We Are

Kootenai Pets for Life was started in 2001 by a group of concerned citizens to provide a humane, no kill Shelter for the stray and abandoned pet population of the Libby/Troy area.  It is a non-profit, all volunteer organization providing shelter, assisting our community with spay and neuter, foster care, veterinary assistance and education.

**********************************************************************************************

From our beginning in 2001  we have adopted out over 2200 pets.  Each cat or dog that comes into our Shelter is spayed or neutered and up to date on shots before being released for adoption

The cumulative total for spay & neuters facilitated by KPFL from 2001 is nearing the 5,000 mark.  We continually work on the spay/neuter program using facilities in Libby, Kalispell and Bonners Ferry.

Kootenai Pets for Life encourages everyone to take their pets to their veterinarian and have them spayed or neutered and to have their vaccinations up to date.

If you are unable to do this KPFL, with some financial assistance from the County, is still actively offering a spay/neuter program. If you need help to spay or neuter your pet call 293-kpfl (5735) or if you can help financially mail your check to KPFL, Box 1454, Libby, MT 59923.

***********************************************************************************************

We have tax exempt status which means contributions made to Kootenai Pets for Life are deductible as charitable contributions on your Federal and State Income Tax returns (subject to rules and limitations the IRS puts on contributions.
