About Us

Animal Haven is a private, non-profit, 501c (3), NO KILL SHELTER dedicated to the rescue of abandoned, abused and neglected animals, providing a safe and secure place for stray dogs and cats awaiting homes. Over the years we ve helped hundreds of animals find the loving homes they deserve. All the animals we have are checked for heartworms, vaccinated and spayed or neutered and recieve any necessary surgeries. They eat a quality diet and are given flea, tick, heartworm prevention treatments and any additional medical attention they require. All animals MUST be spayed/neutered and micro-chipped before leaving the shelter. SINCE WE ARE NON KILL WE STAY OVERFILLED AND CAN ONLY TAKE IN DOGS if you are willing to pitch in monitarily for their up keep and shelter(an our own, being returned) . CONTACT YOUR LOCAL SHELTER, THE SHERIFFS DEPT OR PLACE AN AD IN THE PAPER AND SCREEN FOR A GOOD HOME. We are overwhelmed by sad stories on a daily basis and can only do so much. We cannot take in every pet. PLEASE SPAY & NEUTER YOUR PET!!!and encourage anyone you know that has an unaltered pet to do the same. We would be happy to refer you to low cost spay/neuter programs. Before adopting realize that getiing a pet is a 15 year committment.

Adoption Info.

Our adoption procedure begins with a completed application. This then gets turned into the board for evaluation. We then do a home visit with the pet you have chosen as part of the application process. If the home visit goes well, the adoptee must fill out a contract to ensure the safety and well being of the new pet. If you are approved to adopt out of state, you will be responsibe for the shipping charge and if the adoption does not work out, you will be required to pay for the shipping back to us. Remember, we are looking for permanent homes for our dogs and cats. Every member of the household needs to be prepared for the new member of the family. Please come and see us if you re interested. We have an adoption center at Petco on Saturdays when time permits , or you can e-mail shenakatt@yahoo.com and set up an appointment to visit the shelter in Greenland Arkansas, which is alittle south of Fayetteville.

Foster Info.

Many of our dogs need special attention. Some have been abused or neglected or are just shy and are in need of loving people to provide them with temporary homes to help them become better adjusted. This will enable us to place them into a good permanent home more quickly. If you are interested in helping or want more information on being a foster parent, please give us a call or email Shena at shenakatt@yahoo.com

Track Animal Cruelty at the FBI The Tracking Animal Cruelty Crimes Act (S. 2439), recently introduced by Sen. Robert Menendez (D-N.J.), directs the U.S. Attorney General to modify the FBI’s crime data reporting systems to list cruelty to animals as a separate offense category. Research clearly demonstrates that there is a close association between animal abuse and family violence, as well as other crimes. In addition, animal abuse frequently is one of the first signals of a child, and family, at risk. Without accurate tracking, there is no way to access important information such as trends or the relationship to demographic and geographic data, on which to base policy development and resource allocation. TAKE ACTION Please make brief, polite phone calls to your two U.S. Senators to urge co-sponsorship and support for The Tracking Animal Cruelty Crimes Act (S. 2439). You can reach your Senators by calling the Capitol switchboard at (202) 224-3121, or click here to look up your Senators and their office phone numbers.

After you make your phone calls, fill in and submit the form on the right to automatically send a message to your Senators to reiterate your support for adding animal cruelty as separate category in the FBI's crime databases.

Congress receives a lot of email. Please remember to edit the text below so that your message will stand out and have a greater impact. Some Senate offices may also require you to fill out additional information in order to submit your message

It will only take a minute to take action. Here is the link:
