Faribault County Humane Society
(located in Blue Earth, Minnesota)

The Faribault County Humane Society (FCHS) was originally established in 1985, but unfortunately, it disbanded after a few years. There will always be stray or lost animals in need of care and homes, so in July 2008, a group of people re-started the humane society.

By law, animals must be held for five business days, and if they are not claimed, the animals may be euthanized. FCHS started saving the animals. They have found homes for over 100 animals each year.

Eventually, FCHS began taking care of the local dog pound. The pound was a small metal building with limited creature comforts. The humane society made and paid for many improvements (air conditioning, windows, a second door, bedding, dog cots, and cat towers.)

FCHS volunteers go to the pound morning, noon, and night every day of the year to care for the animals. They provide fresh food and water, empty litter boxes, and exercise the dogs. The collected fees are reinvested in the care of the animals.

Could you help us at the pound? It just takes a few minutes!

Lost and Found

If your pet is missing, post it on Facebook and contact FCHS, law enforcement, veterinarians, and radio stations.

When your animal is found, remember to get your pet vaccinated and licensed. An ID tag makes a difference!

If you find a stray animal, be careful! Call local law enforcement. The animal will be brought to the pound, and then FCHS volunteers will care for it.

Foster an Animal

Could you foster a cat or dog? FCHS provides the food and litter and pays for all needed medical expenses, and you provide the home and TLC.

FCHS hopes to have their own facility some day. For now, they depend on foster homes for all of the animals. They need you!

Adopt an Animal

If you are interested in adopting a pet, call, mail, or email the Faribault County Humane Society.

An application will be mailed or emailed to you. Once they receive the completed form, they will check your references, and determine if you and the pet are a good match. Sometimes several families want the same pet, so we need to determine the best placement.

It may take a few days to process your application. FCHS members are all volunteers with many jobs!.
