Delaware Valley Second Chance for Animals, Inc. (DVSC or DVSC4A) is a 501(c)3 humane organization that serves Southeast Pennsylvania and New Jersey. DVSC believes it is our moral responsibility to protect and improve the lives of abused, abandoned, and homeless animals, and to place them in loving permanent homes. We encourage the public to spay and neuter their pets. We work diligently to educate the public on the importance of adopting rather than buying pets, pet sterilization, responsible pet ownership and the humane treatment of all animals.

We are a true non-kill organization. We rescue animals no matter their situation. We rescue cats who have been neglected, malnourished, sick, and even cats who test positive for FIV/FeLV. Once rescued, all of our furry friends are placed in private foster homes throughout the Delaware Valley. While in foster care, we do our best to ensure that all of our adoptees get healthy and are well socialized, so you can concentrate on finding the ideal new addition to your family. Our horses are located at Second Chance Farm Inc in Newfield, NJ where they are rehabilitated and trained.

Our goals are:
1) To educate the public on the advantages of adopting from rescue groups and shelters.
2) To foster the belief that all life is valuable, and worthy of protection.
3) To educate the public on all matters concerning animal welfare
4) To promote the spay and neutering of all pets to help end the epidemic of feline and canine overpopulation.

If you adopt a kitten 8-12 weeks old, you will receive a voucher for the kitten to be spayed/neutered at one of our clinics which will be already paid with part of your adoption fee. We get all our cats spayed/neutered at 4-5 months old. We do not believe in pediatric spaying and neutering. If you prefer to use your own veterinarian please contact us for a discounted adoption fee that includes a spay/neuter deposit.

Cat Adoption fee: Under 6 months old $135: 3-1 shoot and 2 boosters, flea/tick control treatment, de-wormer, anti-parasite, FIV/FelV testing, and spay/neuter with rabies vaccination voucher for when the cat reaches 5-6 months old. If you prefer to use your own veterinarian please contact us for a discounted adoption fee that includes a spay/neuter deposit.
Over 6 months old $75: We get all our cats spayed at 5-6 months old so your adoption fee includes a spayed or neutered cat plus 3-1 shoot and booster, flea/tick control treatment, de-wormer, anti-parasite, FIV/FelV testing and rabies vaccination.

If you would like to adopt a pet, you must fill out our Cat Adoption Form. One of our volunteers will review your application and will get in contact with you.

Can't Adopt? Foster a Cat

foster Foster parents provide temporary care for cats and kittens. Some animals need as little as two weeks of care, while others may need months. By offering your time and home to a cat in need, you prepare the cat for adoption into a permanent home. DVSC is always looking for more foster homes all year round, especially throughout the busy spring and summer seasons.

Spay and Neuter

DVSC strives to educate the public about spaying and neutering to help reduce the staggering amount of displaced and unwanted animals.

Three Reasons to Spay & Neuter:

(1) It helps to reduce companion animal overpopulation.

(2) Less tendency to mark the house and run out of the house.

(3) Sterilization of your cat will increase his/her change of a longer and healthier life. Altering your feline friend will increase his/her life an average of 3 to 5 years. Altered animals have a very low to no risk of mammary gland tumors/cancer, prostate cancer, perianal tumors, pyometria, and uterine, ovarian and testicular cancers.

(4) Sterilizing your cat makes him/her a better pet, reducing his/her urge to roam and decreasing the risk of contracting diseases or getting hurt as they roam. Feline Immunodeficiency Syndrome is spread by bites and intact cats fight a great deal than altered cats.
