State of Delaware Employees-We are part of the State of Delaware Charitable Campaign. Please choose the Animal Humane Sanctuary for your donation. All of the money goes directly to the animals.
We are also listed as a charitable cause at iGive.com Shop at iGive and help earn money for our shelter! You Shop, We Win! You can help AHS for free. Shop online at over 700 brand name stores and a portion of each purchase will be donated to AHS! Your stores, your cause, their money.
All of the donations from these programs go directly to the cats for their care. You can make a huge difference in the lives of the kitties with your donations. We would like to say thank you in advance for considering AHS when it comes to these programs.
What We Do
The Shelter. AHS currently houses, feeds, and cares for up to 200 cats. Unfortunately, we are almost always at full capacity. Incoming animals are spayed/neutered, tested for FeLV and FIV, vaccinated (rabies), and receive medical treatment.
Our Funding. AHS is staffed solely by volunteers. All of our funds come from private donations. We do not receive any federal funding, but depend upon membership and monetary donations, fundraising events, t-shirt sales, and individual contributions.
The Future. It is the ultimate goal of AHS, as part of a coalition effort, to make Delaware a "no-kill" state and stop the needless euthanization of thousands of healthy animals. This can be achieved through low-cost spay/neuter programs, as well as expanded facilities and a network of foster homes and volunteers.
The Animal Overpopulation Epidemic. A root cause of the overpopulation epidemic is, of course, the need for low-cost spay/neuter availability. It has been the dream of AHS to establish a low-cost spay clinic to benefit low income and senior citizen households.
Society's "Throw Away" Mentality. The animal overpopulation crisis is also caused by the "throw away" mentality of society, and is why communities so desperately need the continued services and outreach of organizations such as AHS. Thanks in advance for your generous support.
COULD YOU MAKE A DIFFERENCE?
50 + ways that you can help homeless animals!
THANK YOU SO VERY MUCH AND THE KITTIES THANK YOU, TOO!
Special thanks are due to our dedicated volunteers, veterinarians and staffs, and friends in the community. Also, we greatly appreciate those caring individuals who send monetary donations to help feed the kitties! Also: AHS sincerely appreciates the monetary donation from the Delaware Community Foundation (The Lane McAlister Fund). We are thinking about some new activities/projects. Please email us with your ideas and what you think about the website, or what you would like to see on the website. One of our goals is to have more community involvement. We are looking for ideas on how to generate more interest in the community to help. If you have ideas or would like to help us start a new project, please email us. We would love to hear from you. We just cannot emphasize enough how important community involvement is in making this world a better place for the animals.
How You Can Help
This is not a "cat problem"--this is a "people problem"!
Please spay and neuter all pets!
Look at the big picture: Did you know there are a ZILLION abandoned and homeless cats and kittens in the State of Delaware? How can YOU help make a difference in the lives of these pathetic animals? Consider volunteering (petting kitties, helping at fundraisers, helping at adoption centers, helping with paperwork), remembering AHS in your will or estate (which becomes a lasting legacy), making a monetary donation or a donation of real estate and/or land, or buying an AHS logo t-shirt.
