Puppy Love's core mission is to rescue dogs from high-kill shelters in the south (primarily Louisiana) and place them in appropriate homes in the New England area. We are looking for foster family homes to allow more dogs to be fostered both in the state of Louisiana and in the New England area. FOSTER HOMES PLAY A CRITICAL LINK in the ability to save dogs. Information on adoptable dogs is available by emailing There are many more dogs than can be posted and we welcome the opportunity to work with families on an individual basis to help find their new family member. We welcome volunteers interested in supporting any aspect of our effort. ADOPTING A FRIEND Our adoption fee is $395 which covers transport to the New England area as well as all vet and foster care. All dogs are spayed/neutered, have up to date vaccinations and a clear health certificate. The adoption process involves completing an application and, if approved, signing an adoption contract. Applications can be completed online on our website Please contact us at for more information or to request an application. We do not have a facility and work through a foster home network both in Louisiana and New England. You can visit us at an adoption promotion. Approved applicants can schedule an appointment to meet adoptable pets

We are a foster home based rescue. We only have so many foster spots available. So when someone choses to adopt a rescued dog rather than purchase you not only give that dog a wonderful home...but you help to save the lives of other dogs. When your dog goes to your home, it opens up a foster spot so that we can rescue a dog in a shelter who is slated to be euthanized. Then when that dog is adopted another is's a chain reaction. Please become part of our chain and adopt a Louisiana unwanted, throw-away dog.

Who We Are
We are a very small group of dedicated volunteers who are committed to finding homes for neglected, abused and unwanted dogs in the state of Louisiana. We then find loving homes for them in the New England area, with adoptions taking place in Maine. Our goal is to save "death row" dogs. Dogs that are in local shelters and time has run out for them. We will take in any dog of nice temperament as foster space allows. Our dogs are fostered in homes along with our families and our own fur children. All of our dogs are fully vetted. All dogs will be spayed or neutered. NO EXCEPTIONS!!!!!!!! Any medical conditions will have been cared for. We will try our best to adopt out healthy dogs, matching the "right" dog to the "right" family.

Adopting a Friend
If you would like one of our foster fur children to become a part of your family, the first step is to contact us for an application at Or copy and paste this link to your browser for an online applications

Requirements for adoption are: you must be 21 years of age or older; you must have identification showing your present address; you must have the knowledge and consent of your landlord; you must be able and willing to spend the time and money necessary to provide training, medical treatment, support and care of a pet; you must have a fenced in yard or agree to walk the dog on a leash at all time; you must provide past and current vet references; all animals on your premises MUST be spayed or neutered (barnyard animals are the exception); you must have a viable, steady source of income; you must agree that the dog will be an "inside" dog and last, you must submit to a home check.

Again, we will try to match the right dog to the right family which means that the dog you pick out may not be "right" for your family and your situation. But that doesn't mean we may not have another "perfect" dog for you.

Because we take in and treat dogs that are older and often ill, our vet bills are almost always more than our adoption fee. Therefore, we accept and encourage donations. Maybe a new or additional dog is not in your plans for now but you can still help with dogs that desperately need us and YOU. If you would like to be a rescue angel to a particular dog let us know and we will add your name to his/her bio as their special rescue angel. Those wanting to make a donation through PayPal can do so by clicking on their "Donate" button below: Many Thanks to our generous supporters: .
Donate a BedThe majority of our dogs come from our local animal control. We would like to provide some amount of comfort for the dogs while they are in the shelter. These dogs must lay on cold, wet concrete floor. We are asking that you consider donating a Kuranda bed and give these unwanted, throw away dogs this small bit of comfort. We use Patented Kuranda Dog Beds because they are durable, chew proof and easy to clean. If you would like to donate a dog bed, please click here.
