Our Featured Pet
Axel's Story... Axel is a wonderful, very sweet, approx, 6 yr old purebred Boxer. He was found wandering loose, emaciated (see 3rd picture), desperate for love and a good meal. No owner could be found so with the help of our vet, we took him into our program. He was so thin, he had no muscle tone at all on his back end, he was practically walking entirely on his front feet because of the pain from arthritic knees. However, he is getting stronger everyday. He has gained 7.5 pounds since we have had him. Axel is great with kids and other dogs but we are not sure about cats. He is the sweetest most gentle thing EVER. We dont think he can bark, he tries but nothing comes out, we've not even heard him make any noise other than burp or fart (hahahaa). He loves to lay on a comfy bed and gaze out the window . Axel needs a stair free home, with easy access to the yard. He would be fine as an only dog and center of attention, but other dogs in the home are fine as long as they aren't going to try and engage him in rough play - companions, not playmates. Same with children, gentle kids or older kids. Axel is currently on both pain and anti-inflammatory medications . He will need to remain on medications for life because of the arthritis in his knees. Axel is neutered, heartworm tested negative, vaccinated and microchipped. This is a very special dog that after who knows how long he was on his own, deserves the most extraordinary forever home!. .

Happy Endings

Who We Are

We are a network of foster homes of people who provide temporary foster care primarily for Cherokee County's strays and displaced animals while they await their forever homes. Our primary foster homes are approved fosters for Cherokee County Humane Society. In addition, we list animals for other licensed rescues. Many of our rescued pets come from shelters, but we also take them in directly from owners when we have room. This allows us to lessen the burden on the shelters. We also help independent rescuers place their rescued pets. Lastly, we also provide postings for owners needing assistance in rehoming their own pets.

Adopting a friend

If you find a pet you are interested in, please e-mail us. We will send you our adoption application. We do often require pre adoption home visits as well. We are not a shelter and we do not have a facility you can visit. If pre approved to adopt, we will set up an appointment for you to meet and adopt your new family member. A contract will then be completed and an adoption fee will apply to cover the pets foster care and veterinary expenses.

Donate a Bed
We use Patented Kuranda Dog Beds because they are durable, chew proof and easy to clean. If you would like to donate a bed to us, click here.
