Our Livestock Guardian Program is growing! Please consider adopting or fostering a working dog before you buy a puppy.

Adopting A Friend

So  you are interested in adopting a Great Pyrenees?

Our goal is to match our rescued Great Pyrenees with the right home and environment. All of our Pyrenees are fostered in homes so that we may learn all about their temperament and health. In order to match a dog with the right home, we require the following:

  • Companion Great Pyrenees must be kept as an indoor pet.
  • For LGDs, proper fencing and shelter must be provided.
  • You must provide regular veterinarian care for your Great Pyrenees.
  • You must be at least 25 years of age.
  • The adoption application must be filled out by the potential owner – it cannot be completed for another person or as a gift.

Who We Are

Blue Ridge Great Pyrenees Rescue & Education Inc. provides shelter and vetting for Great Pyrenees in need throughout VA, MD, DC, East TN, and East WV. All of the dogs are in foster care, not kenneled. We can then be sure about the dogs' temperament and health. We do work with companion dogs as well as livestock guardian dogs.

Because all of the dogs are in foster homes or on foster farms, we are spread out throughout the regions we represent. Visiting a Pyr means going to their foster location to meet them. The feedback has been that the drive is worth it.
