OUR MISSION

Adopt-A-Rescued-Kitty, Inc works for the welfare and protection of Cats and Kittens, Dogs and Puppies, through rescue, medical care and adoption. We are dedicated to providing them a loving, safe, happy, healthy, lifetime home. We are committed to helping and protecting those who cannot speak for themselves and to show them love, compassion, mercy and respect. There are not enough homes for them all and many are unwanted. Humanely reduce the Feline/Canine over- population, Spay/Neuter your pet.

WHO WE ARE

Adopt-A-Rescued-Kitty, Inc. was founded in April 2002 and was joined by Animals In Need USA, our Dog Rescue Division, in March 2005. Operating as an All Volunteer, Non-Profit, No-Kill 501(c)3 Organization we are sanctioned by the IRS and the State of Florida. We are a professional cat, kitten, dog and puppy adoption agency, and are members of The American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals, The Humane Society of the United States and The American Humane Association. Some of our volunteers are certified members of the United Animal Nations Emergency Animal Rescue Services, USA and HSUS Disaster Animal Rescue Team. Our rescues are either homeless, or abandoned and many are cruelty cases. They come to us from the streets, puppy mills Hospice Families, Cruelty cases and from Humble Northeast shelters like Bradford County. Every animal that comes into our program stays with us until they are adopted. Our rescues are cared for by our organization's member's foster homes, not a shelter.

ADOPTION INFORMATION

Our Rescues pay a visit to a veterinarian for a health check, tested for Feline= Leukemia (FeLV), Feline Immunodeficiency Virus (FIV), and Canine and Feline --Heartworms, All receive vaccinations, parasite treatment, are spayed/neutered and receive a microchip. Dogs receive 6 months heartworm preventions, treated if positive and a flea/tick prevention application. We require a completed Adoption Application, which requests information about you, your family and household. Along with names and phone numbers of two personal references, and your Veterinarians name and phone number. We use this information and a personal face to face interview to match one of our Rescues personalities and characteristics with a potential new guardian, their families, and new environment. We ask for an adoption donation-kitties $100 and $250 and up for doggies.to help cover our medical costs Our adoption fees are based on the age, size, health and temperament of the dog. A fellow rescue group wrote the following which sums it up for all rescue groups: Recently someone asked, "Why would you charge $500 for a rescue pet? Why not just place it in a good home?" The answer is because we need adopters who are willing to support all rescue pets, not just the dog they adopt. A young, healthy dog might cost us $250-1000 in vet care, and many people will want to adopt it. An older one with health issues can easily cost $500-1500 in veterinary expenses, and it may require months of foster care for rehabilitation; yet we can only ask a minimal adoption fee, and it may be a long time until anyone comes forward to adopt it. Fees from the younger, more adoptable dogs help offset the cost of caring for the others. Most of our dogs have a sad story to tell, and some have suffered through years of neglect or abuse. We hope that you too are willing to give an opportunity for a better life to ALL of our dogs by supporting them through adoption fees. Without these funds, our rescue efforts would not be possible." If a match between one of our Kitties/Doggies and you is found, you will be asked to sign a legal contract sealing your commitment and promise to provide a loving, healthy and forever home for the Rescue. Adopters must be 21 yrs of age or older. Adopt-A-Rescued-Kitty reserves the right to refuse to adopt to anyone that we feel would not be a suitable match, or anyone who might place the rescue in harms way. Dogs are adopted out to a 50 mile radius of the Village's area due to home-check mandates or in the Clearwater,Florida area only See our cat website for our Kitties information..
