Promote Your Page Too

Please visit the ADL's Facebook page by clicking the link above. Help us raise awareness of the ADL's goals by sharing our site with your friends and family. We continue to promote spay/neuter, pet adoptions, fundraisers and any other activities which will further our presence in the community and in turn help more animals in our region.

Who We Are

The ADL is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization and is operated by volunteers. The mission statement as established in the by-laws:

The main objective of the ADL is to raise awareness of pet overpopulation and to highly encourage and assist in providing spay/neuter surgeries to the animals in our region. We also offer assistance to those caring for feral cat colonies. Every animal that is sterilized has the potential of preventing thousands of births over a period of several years. Not only are there health and behavioral benefits of sterilizing your pets, but it is the only solution to pet overpopulation and the end of euthanasia of healthy, adoptable animals.

The ADL is a non-sheltering organization that utilizes foster homes and if possible, assists in finding new homes for those unable to keep their pets.

Please email for more information.

Adopting a friend

To ensure that this adoption is in the best interest of both you and this pet, the ADL asks that you complete an Adoption Questionnaire and, upon approval, the Pet Adoption Agreement. Adoption fees are $85 for one or $140 for a pair. This helps to cover the costs of FeLV/FIV test for cats, Heartworm test for dogs, spay or neuter surgery and at least one set of vaccinations, defleaing and deworming which is all performed prior to adoption. A vet reference check will be required for all current and/or former pet owners as well as a home visit prior to each adoption. Please contact us if you would like more information or would like to receive adoption forms.

Please come to see us at PetSmart off of Exit 7 in Bristol, VA. This is an exciting opportunity for us to showcase the many wonderful, loving animals that are in need of good homes. An ADL representative is on-site Saturdays and Sundays along with several of our animals available for adoption. If you do not see a pet in the adoption center that is listed on this site, please email or call the number listed and we will make arrangements for you to visit the animal. We look forward to hearing from you or seeing you at the PetSmart adoption center!
