Welcome to Give A Dog A Home!

We are a no-kill, all breed dog rescue. We are a new organization dedicated to saving the lives of cats and dogs in danger of euthanization. We are a WV NonProfit Association. We are in the process of filing for the IRS 501(3)(c) tax exempt status. Our animals are kept in home settings, with one main home facility. We average about 25 dogs in our shelter at a time. Our dogs are NOT kept kenneled and all receive the love and caring that they need. Many of our dogs come to us in poor physical or emotional condition. Only with love and extra care can these animals become adoptable and placed in their forever home. We want to find the right match between adopter and pet. We know our pets individual personalities and traits and will try our very best to properly match them up with the right family.

We are located in the Eastern Panhandle of West Virginia. We are easily accessable from Rt 340, Rt 51, I-81 and I-70. We have had adopters come from as far as 5 hours away to adopt their new family member!

Would You Like To Help?

We are in great need of foster homes. We are a small organization and would like to expand to be able to save MORE of these precious souls in danger.

Monetary donations, no matter how small, are also greatly needed. Our volunteers have pulled together to fund this organization to provide the best care for these pets in need. Many people do not realize how much it costs for medical care, medications, food and other supplies to take care of these animals.

How Did Give A Dog A Home Begin?

The volunteers of GADAH have seen the useless euthanization of helpless homeless animals. We have volunteered for other no-kill shelters and have since formed our own. There are so many wonderful pets in kill facilities that deserve another chance at love and happiness. We are dedicating ourselves to finding the right home for these helpless creatures.

Our Pets

All of our pets receive DHLPP and Kennel Cough vaccinations, are dewormed and on heartworm preventative. They also receive any additional medical treatment that they may need. Pets over 6 months of age spayed or neutered, heartworm tested and receive a Rabies vaccine. We try our best to have our animals in the best of health when they are adopted!

Adopting A Pet

Our adoption process is simple. Potential adopters will need to complete our adoption application. Please email us if you would like to complete one! NEW***see our website at to complete our new online application!!! References will be checked and a home visit may be performed. You will need to make an appointment to come see the pet you are interested in. WE DO ADOPT OUT OF STATE, BUT WE DO NOT TRANSPORT!!! Once your application has been approved, an adoption contract will need to be completed, the adoption fee donation paid. Once the process is completed, you will be able to take your new family member home!
