THE ROLE OF THE MARION COUNTY HUMANE SOCIETY: To advocate for animals that reside within Marion County through community involvement, awareness, rehoming, and education (C.A.R.E)

Most of our animals come from a bad past which may include abuse, neglect, and/or abandonment. This is why we are so particular about who our animals go home with. If you would like to adopt a companion animal, one that will be part of your family, please come and visit us.

  • Monday: 10-4
  • Tuesday: 10-4
  • Wednesday: 10-4
  • Thursday: 10-4
  • Friday: 10-4
  • Saturday: 10-4
  • Sunday: 10-4

      • Cat $75.00
      • Kitten $75.00
      • Dog $175.00
      • Puppy $175.00

If you are interested in adopting a pet, come and meet the animals. Decide which animal may be right for your family, then fill out a pre-adoption application. The majority of all our dogs will require a home visit, but absolutely all bully breed type dogs will require a home visit prior to adoption.

Persons dropping a pet at the shelter must pay a surrender fee of $30.00 and show proof of shots.

For us to continue helping the animals in our county we need volunteers, donations, and support from the community. If you feel that you could help our shelter in any way, please feel free to call.

The large amount of animals coming into our shelter is a good enough reason to remind everyone of the importance of spaying and neutering your pet. This literally saves lives. We are in desperate need of new members. Our member numbers have dwindled lately and we are hoping for new ideas. This is a great way to add some extra curricular activities to your life and the animals would love to have you! Walking, socializing, petting, and bathing are a few of the activities we need help with. We are, also, always in need of dependable volunteers to perform the necessary chores of animal care. Call us for details at (304)366-5391 or e-mail us at admin@mchswv.com if you're interested in becoming a volunteer.

          Directions from North or South:
The Marion County Humane Society shelter is easily accessible to interstate traffic. From I-79, take exit 137 and follow Route 310 into Fairmont. Proceed across the 3rd street Bridge (a curved bridge) and get in the left lane at the light. Make a left on to Fairmont Avenue and continue straight until you reach Shop and Save and at the intersection make a right onto Country Club Rd. Follow to the next light and make a left onto Rte 19. Proceed for approximately 2 miles. Look for a big blue building on the right; it is surrounded by a chain link fence and has our sign out in front.
