Monroe County Animal Shelter

Our Pet List

Who We Are

Monroe County Animal Shelter is a county owned Open-Admission shelter serving Monroe County. We are dedicated to helping lost, homeless, and owner surrendered dogs in Monroe County by housing strays and surrenders, and re-homing all adoptable dogs. Each dog is spayed or neutered and brought up to date on vaccinations prior to adoption. We have 15 indoor runs with heat, air-conditioning, individual lounge beds, and a dedicated group of volunteers who take great care of the animals. Upon intake each dog is treated for internal parasites, and treated with a 30 day flea and tick preventative. Once a week we have a licensed Veterinarian visit our Shelter to give all impounded dogs a Wellness Examination. At that time they receive a Rabies vaccination, a DHLPP vaccination, and selected dogs get checked for heartworm, lymes and anaplasmosis.
