Midwest Border Collie Rescue

Border Collies Available for adoption

LOOKING TO ADOPT A DOG, THINK ABOUT FOSTERING FIRST. WE ARE IN URGENT NEED OF FOSTER HOMES in WI, IL, MN, IA, IN, OH, MI and other Midwest states. Rescue offers an excellent opportunity to learn more about the breed and network with people who understand the breed. Foster homes care for Border Collies in their home until a forever home is found. Medical expenses are paid for by the rescue so the only thing you need to provide is space in your home and an open heart. Fostering a dog can be one of the most rewarding yet challenging things you may ever do.

Volunteers are always needed and appreciated. You could help out by: Being a foster home for a Border Collie throughout the Midwest. Helping with fundraising. Shelter relations. Screening potential adopters. Transporting a Border Collie from a shelter to a foster home. Please visit our website to fill out a Volunteer Application or send for one at: MWBCR@mwbcr.org OUR WISH LIST: Large Crates, Tennis Balls, Dog beds or blankets, Treats, Toys, Dog Food, Leashes, Collars, flea/tick preventative (Vectra, Advantix, Frontline) and other types of dog related donations. We can always use monetary donations to help cover the cost of caring for our foster dogs. Please send to: MWBCR, 8303 108th Avenue, Pleasant Prairie, WI 53158

Who We Are

MWBCR opens our hearts, lives and homes to ensure the safety of Border Collies. We strive to provide quality care and shelter for the abused, unwanted and abandoned Border Collie until a proper and permanent home can be found.

Adopting a friend

Are you sure you are ready for a BC? Before thinking about adopting a Border Collie, we strongly recommend you learn all you can about this highly intelligent breed. Simply put, a Border Collie is not your average pet. They are not cuddly lap dogs content with being indoors.

For centuries Border Collies have been bred to herd sheep and their herding instinct, when not fully understood and given a proper outlet, will result in destructive and undesirable behaviors ranging from chasing cars and incessant barking to herding small children or chewing furniture. Border Collies need a great deal of activity, whether in the form of exercise or work they can perform, such as herding, agility, obedience trials, or flyball.

Equally important, Border Collies need human companionship and should not be left alone for long hours each day. If you are considering adopting a Border Collie you must be willing to devote time and attention to meeting the needs of the dog.

Knowledge and commitment are key The rewards can be many.
