6dogrees Rescue is a small 501c3 Dog rescue focused on rescuing dogs from high kill facilities in CA. We rescue local dogs also. We are a foster beased only rescue meaning we do not have a facility. 6dogrees is a 100% small volunteer group priding our care on quality over quantity rescuing. Our focus is to save dogs that end up in high kill shelters due to no fault of their own. The dogs we rescue receive full vet care, quality dog food and lots of love from our fosters, until a forever home is found. We do not sell dogs. The proccess to adopt from us, requires a online adoption application to be submitted online at www.6dogrees.com We will review and contact you with in 24-48 hrs. If all looks good we will forward your application on to the foster, request a home visit, and photos of your home, yard, and where the dog will sleep. The foster will call you to set up a "meet and greet" if all goes well we move to the adoption process. A contract and adoption fee must be paid before the dog is released to the adopter.
What does the adoption fee cover? We rescue locally and from CA high kill shelters .The adoption fee covers, boarding until transport to WA, health certificate, transport cost, vetting spay/neuter, microchip, rabies vaccine. flea treatment and grooming. Adoption fees help cover the costs of the dogs so we can pay our vet bills and save another dog in need "saving it forward" we do not profit from any of the dogs fees 100 % of all fees goes to saving another dog and paying the vet bill.
Surrendering a dog? Please note we are not a facility or shelter we are a foster based rescue. But we can help network. Email us at: firstname.lastname@example.org

How about helping a rescue dog out? Everyone can in some capacity. Start a dog food drive, collect dog items, garage sales bake sales etc...
6dogrees Rescue is seeking loving dedicated fosters. If you have what it takes to save a life by offering a warm home and lots of love to a shelter dog. We would love to have you on our team!
What does it mean to be a foster for a rescue dog?
· A foster provides a loving safe environment until the dog finds a forever home.
· A foster helps build a dog's confidence through positive training & practicing basic commands.
· A foster's job is to help create a successful routine and teach basics i.e. potty training, recall training and basic obedience these are all positive attributes that helps with forever placement.
6 dogrees Rescue pays for all of the vetting while a dog is in foster care.
The dogs we save are euthanasia dogs. Meaning they were out of time in the shelter due to no fault of their own and on their way to be euthanized. Rarely do we know the history of the dogs that we save. Fostering provides a chance to learn about the dog and their behaviors habits and personality. The most rewarding part about being a foster is knowing you are helping save a life!
Fostering a rescue dog gives a dog a chance to feel safe and stable. In return, your efforts help lead to a successful placement in a forever home. Fostering a dog is a very rewarding experience for all involved. Fostering for a rescue is a critical function for a rescue and the truth is we can not save lives with out fosters. Fostering allows us to "rescue" and keep saving lives. If interested in fostering please fill out our on line foster application at www.6dogrees.com

6dogrees Rescue rarely knows the history or past of the dogs we rescue out of high kill shelters. Our fosters are key to observing the dogs needs and temperament. The reality is the dogs we save are last “hour dogs” we are their last hope before they are euthanized. Our goal is to save dogs and find them their forever happy home.
When looking for your "best 4 legged friend" keep in mind that the dogs 6dogrees saves are last minute "red listed "euthanasia bound "shelter dogs" there is very little known information on the dogs regarding the history of the dogs we save. 800 dogs per day die in the California shelters 6dogrees Rescue saves "red listed" death row dogs. A good percentage of these dogs end up on the euthanasia list by no fault of their own. Pet stores selling dogs, backyard breeders, & puppy mill dogs are a big part of the problem. As they breed these dogs the less desirable dogs are discarded. The dogs end up in the streets and shelters. Lack of spay and neuter, and education also adds to the problem. 6dogrees is a small "grassroots" rescue dedicated to helping the throw away dogs that are slated for euthanasia in high kill shelters in CA. The State of California is bankrupt leaving many agencies with very limited resources to help the animals of CA. If you are looking for your forever best friend please email us your specific desires and we will do our best to search for a dog that matches your description. Send inquiries to: firstname.lastname@example.org

6dogrees Rescue evolved from a networking of rescue dogs to its own very small, "grassroots rescue" focusing on saving local & CA death row dogs. Why CA? 6dogrees Rescue saves "red listed" dogs meaning less than 12 hours to be rescued. A good percentage of these dogs end up on the euthanasia list by no fault of their own. Pet stores over selling dogs, backyard breeders, & puppy mill dogs are a big part of the problem. As they breed these dogs the less desirable dogs are discarded. The dogs end up in the streets and shelters. 6dogrees is a small "grassroots" rescue dedicated to helping the throw away dogs that are slated for euthanasia in high kill shelters in CA. The State of California is bankrupt 800 dogs per day are dying in CA. The lack of spay and neuter, and education also adds to the problem leaving many agencies with very limited resources to help the animals of CA. Karleen used her bonus check money from her "day job" to launch a sustainable rescue idea with a "Save it forward" concept . On average it costs $450-500 to save a healthy dog. When dogs are adopted they are fully vetted spayed/neutered and microchipped. 6dogrees Rescue uses all of the adoption fees for the dogs welfare, vetting & boarding. We are doing business as a "not for profit rescue" All adoption fees, donations go directly to saving red listed euthanasia dogs. For every dog we adopt out we rescue one more and pay on the additional vet bills of sick dogs "Pay it forward" rescuing. We feel by remaining small we can better manage and care for the dogs that need us. 6 dogrees is a passionate rescue based off love and volunteers.
