WELCOME TO YELM ANIMAL ALLIANCE'S PETFINDER PAGE!
We are a small, all volunteer 501c3 non-profit charitable organization dedicated to the rescuing and re-homing of lost, homeless, discarded, often abused and injured dogs in our community. We do not operate a shelter and depend entirely upon our amazing foster families who are willing to take a strange and frightened dog into their home where it is loved and nurtured until it is adopted into it's forever home. We provide all food, supplies, equipment and necessary medical treatment, at no cost to the foster famiIy, for the dog under their care.
We work closely with Yelm Animal Control, Yelm Veterinary Hospital, and local businesses to first rehabilitate and then re-home these wonderful dogs entrusted to our care, giving them a second chance at life. The majority of our dogs come from Yelm Animal Control and we only take in "owner surrender" dogs under very certain circumstances.
All of our dogs are given a thorough veterinary health examination. In addition they are microchipped and brought up to date on their vaccinations, including rabies. Prior to their adoption they are spayed or neutered.
We have a very thorough individualized screening process in selecting our adopters to ensure they are making an informed and compassionate decision in choosing the right dog for their family and that they understand they are making a commitment to that dog for the rest of its life.
Q: What is included in the adoption fee?
A: The adoption fee is $200. Included in the adoption fee is spaying/neutering, shots, and a microchip. The dogs are ready to go!
Q: How do I meet the dog I'm interested in?
A: You must first fill out our adoption application--available for download on our Petfinder page. We will then contact you to set up a "meet and greet" if we think you and the dog are potentially a good match.
Q: What happens if I want to adopt the dog?
A: If we think you are a good match, you must sign an adoption agreement and pay the adoption fee. We have a 2 week "trial period," so if for some reason you decide that the dog is not quite the right fit, you can bring them back and receive a refund on your adoption fee. After the 2 weeks, your adoption fee is non-refundable.
We meet at Rosemont Retirement Center in the private dining room on the 2nd and 4th Wednesday of every month at 6:00 pm. We would LOVE to see you there!! Visitors are always welcome.
Take a moment to browse our site and visit our dogs currently available for adoption. You might find it fun to read a few of our success stories in the "Happy Tails" section and if adoption is not an option for you, see what else you might be able to do to help our rescue dogs!

ADOPTING A FOREVER FRIEND
Tips for adopting the perfect dog!
You live in a studio apartment and work all day, so you want a small dog... right? Not necessarily. Great Danes make excellent apartment dogs, being low energy laze abouts. They are content to have 2-3 45 minute walks a day and sleep on the couch while you are at work
Australian shepherds and border collies are beautiful dogs. But not always ideal for families with small children. These breeds, among others, have a strong herding instinct that doesn't do well with toddlers.
Golden Retrievers and German Shepherds are smart dogs... but remember that a smart dog without training or tasks quickly becomes a bored dog. Bored dogs can be destructive... so training not only makes your dog a better companion for you but betters his day!
Everyone loves to see a Dalmation on the fire truck. But this breed is more likely to bond strongly with one person and be slightly stand offish to strangers.
Always assess these four qualities in a dog as balanced with your family's needs. Is someone home all day and able to keep a high energy dog such as a Jack Russell Terrier or Boxer occupied? Looking for the perfect dog to spend your day traveling from job site to job site? Choose a breed that is both trainable and able to deal with strangers.
Know your needs and learn your breeds...
$200.00 for all dogs both male and female.
Yelm Animal Alliance offers fully vetted dogs for adoption. In addition all our dogs have been spayed or neutered, are up to date on their vaccinations (including Rabies) and have been microchipped.
We require a home visit before placing any dog in a new home. This is for both your protection and the dog's safety.
