The Top Ten Reasons Why You Can't Trust Vicious Pit Bulls

10. They will steal your spot on the couch while you are up getting a soda.

9. They will take the treat you give them and bury in the back yard like a paranoid crack head hiding their stash.

8. They will jump on your bed with muddy feet. Making you do laundry...again

7. They will lick visitors with an uncontrolled passion only they understand.

6. They will cause children to smile.

5. They will make you feel horrible for not walking them by looking at you with deep sad eyes.

4. They will look at you like you committed a crime against them if you don't let them lick your ice cream bowl.

3. They will cause wide spread happiness in large group settings.

2. They will crack you up by shaking their butts so hard you think they are going to snap in half.

And the number one reason why you can't trust vicious Pit Bulls...

1. They will steal your heart like a thief in the night, showing you complete and pure love that only a Pit Bull can show.

Who We Are

Pacific Northwest Pit Bull Rescue was formed in July of 2006 in an effort to support the growing need of rescue, education and adoption of the pit bull breed in the community.

We rescue, foster, rehabilitate and adopt out pit bulls that we believe truly are breed ambassadors. We do not take owner surrenders, all of our dogs come from death row and have faced euthanasia in area shelters.

While we love the breed, we accept that not all pit bulls are good candidates for adoption. It is for that reason we are selective on the dogs that we choose to be a part of our program. Abuse, neglect, and poor breeding/genetics, resulting in health and temperament problems are just some of the things that can be an issue with this breed. There are tens of thousands of pit bulls in need in shelters across the country and beyond, but choosing the best of the best is for the betterment of the breed as a whole and for the community that we live and work in.

We are combating the trouble that faces the breed that we love so much not with the attitude that we can “save them all”, but that we can save the few that can become true ambassadors for the breed and stand beside us as we fight BSL and say “Punish the Deed, Not the Breed!”

We advocate responsible pet ownership for all breeds and strive to provide current and future pit bull owners, as well as the general public with the TRUTH about pit bulls and how we can stop what has truly become an epidemic, BSL (breed specific legislation).

If you love your dog, please be a responsible owner, spay and neuter your pet, educate yourself, then stand up with us and FIGHT for our dogs.

Adopting a friend

All of our dogs come from euthanasia lists at local shelters. These dogs are getting a second chance at life, and they deserve it! Each adoption is treated differently, because each dog is different. Please contact us for specific adoption details for the dog you are interested in.

Our Donation Fees

Puppies $200
Adults $150

These donation fees include the animal being spayed or neutered, up to date on shots, microchipped and dewormed.

Our Requirements

You must be 21 years of age or older
If other dogs are in the home they MUST be spayed or neutered
We do not do same-sex adoptions so the dog must be of the opposite sex For more information as to why please click here:
If you rent we must have landlord's permission to rent with a Pit Bull
You must fill out an application prior to meeting the dog
There will be a home check and an overnight stay required

Our Process

We do not do applications on a first-come-first-serve basis. We do however process applications in order they are received and if we feel the application is not the right match for the dog, we will let the applicant know, and move on to the next application.

This is done with the dog's best interest in mind. Just because we don't feel the dog you applied for is not a good match for your home/lifestyle does not automatically mean we are disqualifying you as an adopter. We will take the time to explain our reasoning and work with you to find the right dog.

Once your application is turned into the Adoption Team it can take up to 3 weeks to have the dog adopted and living in your home. We will first process the application, check references, vet records and home ownership or landlord. Once these are completed we can set up a time for you and your family members to meet the dog. The next step is the home check where we check to make sure the home is a healthy living environment.

Our final step is the most important, the trial adoption! The trial adoption can be done at the same time as the home check.

Here at PNWPBR, we feel a trial adoption is an important part of making your adoption successful! We bring over the dog, it's crate, food, toys and all you will need for a fun weekend with your new dog.

At an animal shelter you meet what you think is the dog of your dreams, take it home, and find that it just isn't a good match. With our trial adoption you get to feel out how the dog is in your home and give it a few days before you make that lifetime commitment to your new best friend!

While these steps may seem daunting and timely, please remember we do it not to make it hard on YOU, but because these dogs deserve the best. Thank you for understanding!!
