Adopting A Friend

We adopt to qualified indoor only homes on a first-come-first-served basis.

Our cats are not adoptable until they have been altered.  If you choose an altered cat, most likely you can take it home with you.  If you choose an unaltered cat, the first step is telling us you want the kitten and pledge to adopt it when it is ready.  If nobody has made a claim before you, the kitty is now "pre-adopted" to you.  If it is already pre-adopted, you may commit to adopt in case the person ahead of you in line doesn't follow through as promised.  When you pre-adopt, you will be told when they are expected to be altered.  Once your cat has been altered on a Wed., it will be ready for pick up on Sat.

The fee is $70 for a kitten or $50 for an adult before you leave.

Please be sure to bring a pet carrier for your kitty's trip home, we will not release our kitties without one for safety reasons.

Who We Are

Kitten Rescue of Mason County is dedicated to placing abandoned and unwanted kittens with safe, loving indoor only homes. We have hundreds of kittens veterinarian-tested, immunized, and altered each year.  We are registered as a non-profit charity and your donations are considered tax-deductible under IRS regulations.

Kitten Rescue was started in 1999; at that time there were no options for abandoned cats and kittens in Mason County.  We are still the only shelter in Mason County for cats and kittens.   We place about 400 cats and kittens in loving homes each year.   We also have help for the community in low-income assistance with spay/neuter and free feral fix and release programs.

Kitten Rescue is located on the south side of  Shelton, just off of exit N 3 Shelton/Bremerton.

From Olympia side:  Do not use GPS, will take you to the wrong State Route 3. From  I-5 get onto Hwy 101.  Take first Shelton exit, N 3 Shelton/Bremerton from Hwy 101. We are located VERY close to that exit on the right hand side. Landmarks on the way to our place are PASS the park and ride, next a white house, ¾ of a block ahead will be a reader board for a small fire station, pass two wooden fences on the right, ours is the next fence, black chain link with a large tree with a chunk cut out for the electric lines to go past. Turn right at the end of the fence, on our gate will be written Webber’s 420, go up paved drive way to cottage up on a small hill behind the house down front.

From Belfair:   As you reach the city limits there will be a stop sign, Pro Build, (our lumber yard) will be on your left. Turn left and follow that road up past the Red Apple grocery, going South. The next mile of road is also known as State Route 3. Pass the turn off for Del’s farm supply on your right. Pass the turn off for Mill Creek on your left, up to the top of a short little hill, on your left will be what looks like an abandoned lumber yard.  We are a hard left just after, we share a common boundary. Our gate has Webber’s 420 on it; go up the paved road to the cottage on the hill behind the house down front.
