Kittens (8 weeks – 6 months): $125.00

Cats (7 months – 8 years old): $100.00

Mature Cats (9 years and older): By donation.

Buddy Cats: $25 discount on total.

Adoption fees include: spay/neuter, rabies vaccination (if over 12 weeks of age), 1st distemper vaccination, 1st deworming, flea preventative, microchip and registration,  a 30 day free trial of 24PetWatch Pet Health Insurance,  a coupon toward Hill’s Science Diet food, and a voucher for a free veterinary exam from the VVMA!

Who We Are

At Central Vermont Humane Society, it really is all about the animals. We are here to provide a helping hand and temporary home for our animal friends in need. The mission of CVHS is to ensure the humane treatment of all domestic animals and to promote the advancement of animal welfare.

Come Visit Us

Hours are Tuesday- Friday 1pm-5pm and Saturday 10am-4pm. CVHS is closed most major holidays. We stop processing adoptions 30 minutes before we close for the day, but try to do same day adoptions! 


FROM INTERSTATE 89:  Take Exit 7 and follow the signs to Barre, going straight through several lights and down a large hill. From the intersection of Route 14 and Main Street in Barre City, go straight on Route 14 and travel 4.2 miles. The Shelter will be on your Left just as you go around a corner.

FROM BARRE CITY:  Turn North on Route 14. Travel 4.2 miles and the Shelter will be on your Left just as you go around a corner.

FROM ROUTE 2 (from Montpelier or Plainfield and more!): Turn South on Route 14. Travel 1 mile and the Shelter will be on your Right.
