About Wendy's Feline Friends
Westmoreland County Shelter does not provide services for cats. Wendy does a remarkable job trying to fill the need by taking in adoptable cats and kittens. All cats listed on this site have been free-living in a home setting, including a fully enclosed outdoor exercise area. All of Wendy's cats receive complete veterinary care and are FeLV negative. Adults are up to date on shots and are spayed or neutered upon arrival. Wendy will tell you what care kittens still require upon adoption. She knows the personality of each cat and kitten and prides herself on matching the right person with the right feline friend. She also has friendly, healthy, sterlized cats who choose to stay outdoors and would be perfect barn cats.

Adoption Process
If you are interested in one of Wendy's cats or kittens, please call 804-224-1079 between 8 am - 8 pm Eastern time. If she is out, leave a message and she will return your call usually the same day. She can also be contacted via email, but prefers speaking to you personally. Wendy will want to meet you and have you meet the cats and then help match you with the perfect feline friend.

Wendy's Feline Friends receives no public funding and survives strictly on donations from the public. Suggested donation for a unfixed kitten is $75, which helps cover baby/booster shots, leukemia & AIDS testing, flea treatment and worming (with the understanding that the cat will be fixed by a certain date). Fixed cats with a current rabies vaccination are available for a suggested donation of $125. When adopting from Wendy, if for any reason it is not a perfect match, you may bring the child home and try another if you wish.

How You Can Help
Caregivers are needed to help work with the cats, do yard and house work every day between 9 a.m. and 2 p.m. Volunteers of any age are welcome! Please call Wendy at 224-1079 to learn how you can help the homeless cats and kittens of Westmoreland County. Wendy is also looking for volunteers to offer special foster care to needy cats: tiny kittens who must be bottle-fed, adults recovering from major surgery, very shy or surrendered frightened cats who need extra attention. Please call her if you can help.

As a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, Wendy's Feline Friends accepts tax-deductible donations. In addition to financial contributions, the shelter is always in need of Clorox bleach, mouthwash, paper towels, large baskets and old bath towels. The cats are always asking for more catnip, powdered kitten replacement milk, cat trees, and Frontline flea treatments. Wendy welcomes receiving aluminum cans and cash/check/PayPal donations to help pay down her substantial veterinary bills. If you would like to sponsor a specific cat or kitten in the shelter, call for further information.

Feline Friend Care
Cats & kittens fostered by Wendy receive full vet care, including FeLV/FIV testing, vaccinations, worming, sterilization, and anything else required to maintain health. The vet who works with Wendy is 25 miles from the shelter.
