Dogs and Puppies Cats and Kittens

Who We Are

The Lost Dog & Cat Rescue Foundation (LDCRF) is a non-profit, volunteer-run organization located in Northern Virginia, that rescues abandoned or displaced dogs and cats from the threat of euthanasia by area shelters or other at-risk situations.

Once in our care, these companion animals are fully vaccinated and spayed or neutered. We also provide for those animals who need additional time and medical care before going to a new home.

While awaiting placement in permanent, loving homes, these animals stay either at our facility, the Lost Dog Ranch (on 61 acres in Sumerduck, VA), or in foster homes.

Since starting in 2001, LDCRF has found homes for over 17,000 dogs and cats, but there are still many more needing our help. Please consider making a donation today, to help us continue to help the animals.

Our Adoption Events

Please check out website www.lostdogrescue.org to find out where we will be this weekend.

Adopting a friend

Each weekend, LDCRF conducts adoption events at Petsmarts in the DC-metro area. Our volunteers interview and educate prospective adopters on the importance of proper veterinary care, nutrition, exercise, and obedience training to ensure a successful adoption for everyone involved.

If you are interested in a dog that is not in foster care, you may request for them to be at one of our adoption events, where you can meet them.

Visit here for more information our adoption procedures!

The adoption fees are as follows:

Kittens must be adopted out in pairs or go to a home with another feline companion.

All adoption fees go directly to LDCRF to help pay for medical expenses, spaying/neutering, and boarding.

How You Can Help

We are always looking for volunteers and fosters, by being a foster, you enable us to save another dog! Fosters care for the dogs and cats in their homes, and bring them to our adoption events to help them get adopted. Fostering makes a huge difference in helping to get a dog adopted, as you serve as the dogs personal advocate! For more information, visit our foster page

Government workers, please designate Lost Dog and Cat Rescue Foundation (Our number has changed to #97890) as your charity of choice for the Combined Federal Campaign. Your dollars make the difference in the lives of dogs and cats. A yearly contribution of $400 would allow two dogs to receive life-saving heartworm treatment or pay for spay neuter surgery for four dogs or cats.

Corporate Matching Gifts
Did you know that you can double the amount of your donation to LDCRF? Many employers are willing to match the charitable contributions of their employees (whether it be for an adoption, donating on line, Pal for Paws, Remembrance Giving, etc.). Matching gifts are usually matched dollar for dollar (often by just completing a simple company form). Please inquire at your employer's Human Resources or Personnel Department to determine if you have a Matching Gift Program.
