Our pet list is updated by a volunteer about once every week or two in an effort to keep our listing of dogs available from our organization as accurate as possible. The most complete listing can be found on our web site Heart of Texas Lab Rescue - Labs Needing Homes Page.
Our Featured Dog...
Miss Belle got stuck in a storage tank at a chemical plant, and was kept company by Mikey until people came to save her. So far she is a doll on the leash, loves to lounge by her trainers feet, and is learning Sit and Down. She seems fine around cats, other dogs, & young children. She's happy to crate as well! She is heartworm positive and also has a giant mammary tumor that is going to need to be removed. Those treatments, along with her spay, will all cost money, so please consider sponsoring her upcoming procedures.
Update 12-7-10 Miss Belle has joined a temporary foster home where she is living with a toddler and two cats. She is great with our two year old...she is very gentle with him and allows him to climb all over her! She even made an appearance at a playgroup yesterday (with 8 toddlers!) and was very calm and sweet with the little ones. She has proven to be very trustworthy, even with the cats! She is a sweet, gentle soul who prefers to be near people (little or big!). Update 12-4-10 Miss Belle has come a long way and is just the happiest girl. She still gets excited about toys, but is also perfectly happy just hanging out with her person.

The Heart of Texas Lab Rescue is a non-profit, all-volunteer organization based in Austin, Texas. Our mission is to rescue Purebred Labrador Retrievers from shelters, pounds, abandonment , and other situations, and place them in loving, caring homes. The HOT Lab Rescue serves Austin, San Antonio, and surrounding Central Texas communities.
It is HOTLR's policy to accept and place dogs ONLY in the state of Texas.
All Labradors are neutered/spayed, current on shots, microchipped, and heartworm negative prior to being put up for adoption.
If you are interested in adopting a Lab from the Heart of Texas Lab Rescue, you will need to complete an application. Please go to Heart of Texas Lab Rescue to get an application. Please note, we have a non-refundable $25 application fee which is applied toward the adoption fee if you adopt a dog with us.
After your application has been reviewed, a home study will be conducted. This is a requirement of our process to make sure our rescued Labs will have good homes.
A small adoption fee is required. This fee off-sets the cost of veterinary services including spay/neuter and microchipping charges incurred by HOT Lab Rescue. You will be encouraged to enroll yourself and your new "friend" in an obedience class. The training process will show you how to train the dog, assist in the bonding process between you and your new companion while spending quality training time together, and lets the dog know what is expected of him in his new family.
HOTLR volunteers and board members can assist you in finding a trainer in your area if you are not already familiar with one. This enhances your relationship and paves the way for a successful adoptive situation.
We are now set up to use PayPal so you can sponsor the dog of your choice(not just those with heartworms).
