About Us

Adopting A Friend

While our main objective is to move dogs and cats from Houston to be adopted elsewhere, from time to time we may have a dog or cat who we feel deserves a good home here in Houston.  We also have an adoption program in Colorado based out of Littleton.  We have foster homes all over Colorado from Colorado Springs to Denver, Boulder, Ft. Collins, Longmont and Vail too and hope you will consider adopting a dog from our Colorado Branch too.  If you are interested in adopting any or all (dare to dream!) of the pets listed, please send an email to adoptions@rescuedpetsmovement.org and RPM will contact you with further information. Adoption fees are $50 for cats and $100 for dogs.

Can't adopt, PLEASE consider fostering, even if just short term.  RPM will cover all medical, can assist with food and will provide a crate.  Having a foster home for a homeless animal on death row is often the difference between whether we are able to save them or not.  Contact us today for more information on how to help!

Who We Are

Rescued Pets Movement Inc. is a not-for-profit 501(c)(3) all-volunteer organization that transports animals from Houston and Greater Houston area shelters to other 501(c)(3) nonprofit animal welfare organizations that have demand for adoptable pets.  We have partnered with many rescue group in Colorado and also have some amazing volunteers and fosters in Colorado.  Please email us today if you are interested in adopting ANY of the animals we have listed and we will set up a meeting with you at a time and place that is convenient for you. Each animal posted on petfinder will have a location. Those animals that have "Colorado" by their names are in Colorado and ready for a home or foster in Colorado. If the animal has "Texas" by its name, it means the dog or cat is in the Houston area BUT we can still get it up to you in Colorado. We do weekly transports to Colorado, and can usually get a dog or cat up to you in about a week or so.

Unsure about making the commitment to an animal you haven't been able to meet, consider doing a foster to adopt which allows you to do a trial run to make sure the dog is the right fit for you.

Over 100,000 dogs and cats are needlessly euthanized in the Greater Houston area each year simply because of pet overpopulation.   There are over 1.2-1.4 million stray animals living on the streets in Houston.  After working with various rescue groups for many years, the founders of Rescued Pets Movement found the best way to save these dogs and cats is to build solid relationships with reputable shelters and rescue groups here and in areas of the U.S. where there is a demand for adoptable pets, and then arrange transportation to get the animals there. Not only is this the best way to save Houston’s shelter pets from euthanasia, but we believe it will help Houston shelters become no-kill shelters. Working with BARC since late summer of 2013, Rescued Pets Movement has saved more than 3800 pets by transporting them to Colorado.

We’re excited by what we’re doing, but we’ll need help. After Rescued Pets Movement removes animals from shelters, the dogs and cats will need short-term foster homes until we can arrange their transportation.   We also always need longer term foster homes, especially in Colorado and of course, forever home for these very deserving homeless animals.

We’d love to hear your good ideas. Please contact us at info@rescuedpetsmovement.org and let us know how you’d like to help.
