Adopting A Friend

Our adoption process is designed to place adoptable dogs in the most compatible homes.  An adoption questionnaire is used to collect your information and then we proceed with contacting your veterinarian and personal references.  We also verify your residence and confirm the allowance of pit bulls with your landlord if you rent your home.

After verifying the information, a volunteer will contact you to arrange a home visit. -A home visit is not required on dogs that are not of the pit bull breed- During this time we look at the property to determine safety and compatibility, discuss potential concerns (neighbors, fencing, living environment) and meet your current pets (if applicable).

Being approved to adopt does not necessarily mean you are approved for any dog as each dog has its own specific needs.  Approval for adoption is based on many things and we do not have a "list" of requirements as we try to assess each potential adopter individually.

Adoption fees are $125 for young (4 months and over) and adult dogs.  This includes all vaccinations, de-worming, and spay/neuter.
Adoption fees for puppies  3 months and younger are $50. This includes current vaccinations and de-worming. You will be required to sign a spay/neuter contact in which you will be resposible to have the dog altered before the assigned due date. Failure to do so will result in us taking back custody of the dog.

Who We Are

Hardin County Pit Bull Rescue is devoted to rescuing, rehabilitating and rehoming pit bull breeds in surrounding area shelters, educating the public on responsible pet ownership, and advocating against the inhumane activity of dogfighting.

While we are in Hardin County, we are not limited to this area. We work in all parts of Southeast Texas!

Come Visit Us

HCPBR is not a shelter facility so we do not have an open door policy. If you would like to come visit our dogs that are for adoption, please give us a call at 936-402-6353 to schedule an appointment.
