About Us

Askum is our Featured Pet this Month.

We do not normally do cats but we think Askum is just that special and we know you will also. Askum is being cared for in a loving Kindred Spirits Foster Home.

Askum is a beautiful 8 year old Main Coon/Ragdoll we think. We think because when held he goes limp. He is a 12 lb charmer who was originally adopted from the SPCA by a family but later put outside and abandoned. When rescued and brought inside we discovered that he only had seven teeth so he has to be fed a soft diet.

He is neutered, microchipped, and housetrained. Currently he is an inside and outside (cat fenced) guy, but would be fine inside only. He is playful and affectionate although is not comfortable being held. He loves to be brushed and petted and shows it with his sweet purr. He is very kitten-like when playing and loves to hunt his toy mice.  Initially shy he seeks company and gets on well with other cats. He previously lived in a cat and dog home so would probably be fine in that environment again, but would be happiest being the only male feline in the house.

Adopting A Friend

The first step to adopting one of our pets is to complete our application. Please email the address below and ask for an application. Once you complete it, please return it to the same email address.

We will process your application and help you find the best match for you.  We are all volunteers with day jobs so please be patient with us.  Adding a new family member is a big commitment and should not be rushed into.

Adoption Criteria:

Kindred Spirits thoroughly checks references and carries out a comprehensive home visit before placing each animal.  We will  talk  with prospective owners about good nutrition, healthcare, proper handling, and all other aspects of responsible pet ownership. We are commited to finding the very best possible homes for our wonderful dogs and look for the same in those who are
interested in sharing their lives permanently with them.

Sorry, we are not able to adopt to:

  • Homes with children under 6 years of age
  • Adopters under 21.
  • Students
