Apples Orchard Memorial Garden Opens!
Over five years in the planning,
LoveHandlers is pleased to announce
the official opening of the
Apples Orchard Memorial Garden
A memorial garden comprised of custom made personalized bricks engraved with the names of beloved pets.
In 2006 we cleared the land for this special area. In 2007 we planted apples trees, and in 2008 we laid to rest our beloved founder and inspiration for LoveHandlers, a sweet blind basset hound named Apples in the garden. In the subsequent years we added much in the way of landscaping, potted flowers, benches, memorial plaques, statues, fountain, gazebo and, of course, the memorial brick walkway. All of the photos in this article are from the memorial garden project.
This memorial will always be a work-in-progress and now you are also invited to participate. LoveHandlers has established this garden path walkway of engraved bricks in memory of the wonderful pets that our friends and supporters have known and loved.
Custom engraved bricks are available for a $100 contribution (tax deductible). This donation will help LoveHandlers Animal Sanctuary provide care for our current animal residents while placing a lasting memorial for your pet friend.
It is a loving way to remember a special animal friend that has passed on, a donation of $100 (click on any photo in this article to link to the donation site)
or more can be made in the name of your own pet or give the gift of friendship on behalf of a loved one who has lost their special pet. On a related note, if you have a greiving young child who you are trying to comfort, a dear friend of LoveHandlers has recommended the children's book "Dog Heaven" written and illustrated by Cynthia Rylant (available at Amazon).
You are welcome to visit the Apples Orchard Memorial Garden as well as send us a photo of your special pet and a few words about their lives which will be added to our online memorial blog.
Adopting A Friend
LoveHandler dogs are healthy (unless a disability is noted) and have been spayed/neutered, up-to-date on shots and heartworm negative. They are transported bathed and nails clipped, with a new collar with tag. Please note that LoveHandlers must be very thorough in finding out all it can about an adoptive situation before releasing a dog to someone's care. It is important for LoveHandlers to check veterinarian references. To begin the process of adopting a pet from LoveHandlers, please complete and submit an Adoption Application & Contract Package. The completion and return of the application does not guarantee adoption; you will be contacted for a phone interview should the adoption proceed. If approved, an adoption fee ($285+) will be expected via phone or through our online donation link.
