Schmidt  WHAT ABOUT SCHMIDT?? He needs a home, thats what...

Scars tell a story and boy does Schmidt have one. His name comes from the Jack Nicholson movie "About Schmidt." Much like that movie, our boy here has been on quite the journey.

When he came to us he was covered in chemical burns, underfed, and severely in need of love. Since then, he's completely healed and a lot of his hair has even grown back!! He has been evaluated by our trainer and is good around other dogs, he also loves all people. Sweet doesn't even begin to describe how loving Schmidt really is.

He is itty on the Pittie Mix scale coming in around 45lbs. If you need a lap dog that doesn't know he isn't lap dog size then Schmidt is your dog. Need a dog people will stop and ask you about on the street? Look no further! For an application please email rbynsnest@yahoo.com or or click here.

Who We Are
Robyn's Nest, founded in 2004, is a small grass roots animal rescue, dedicated to helping the stray, abandoned and abused animals in Nashville and surrounding areas.
Our secondary goal is to assist and educate residents in the area on proper care for their animals: the importance of spaying and neutering your animals, providing your pets with the proper vet care and upkeep, discouraging the tethering of dogs.
Since November of 2004 over 1800 animals (dogs, cats, horses, raccoons, deer, foxes, cows, turtles and frogs, just to name a few) have been rescued. All the animals are completely vetted and kept current on their vacinations. When old enough and healthy enough, all animals are spayed/neutered before going to their new forever homes. While under our care they receive training, socialization and loving care.
We are currently working on obtaining our 501(c) status.

Mission Statement
Our mission is to protect the welfare of the animals we come in contact with, and to promote the humane treatment and well being of these animals by:
  • Providing shelter and medical care for stray or abandoned animals in Nashville, TN and surrounding areas
  • Responding with personal commitment, humane sensitivity, compassion, and technical skill to the needs of these animals.
  • Actively promoting suitable adoptions of the animals.
  • Encouraging the spay and neutering of dogs and cats to ensure the numbers of unwanted animals be kept to a minimum; and helping to prevent cruelty to animals by promoting animal welfare and education.
  • Robyn's Nest Animal Rescue is a group of volunteer animal lovers whose mission is to rescue, provide sanctuary, and ultimately to re-home abandoned, stray and neglected animals.
  • A volunteer organization that operates on individual and corporate donations and fundraising proceeds. We do not receive any funding from government agencies or national animal welfare agencies. We are very fortunate to have a caring and dedicated team of volunteers, board members, and supporters.
  • Whenever possible we also assist those who, because of extenuating circumstances, are unable to remain in their homes with their owners. We are located in the Nashville, TN area.
  • All are housed or fostered in homes where they are provided with an enormous amount of love and any medical attention that may be required to insure that they are in good health before adoption.
  • All dogs/cats are spayed or neutered and brought up-to-date on shots before being placed in their new homes. When time permits, they are also house trained, crate trained and taught basic obedience.
  • All animals are evaluated for temperament and personality. This helps us to place them in homes that are well suited to their needs and to the needs of their future owners.
  • We work closely with other rescue groups and animal shelters.
  • To promote responsible pet ownership through humane education, and to provide shelter and care to domestic companion animals until a loving, responsible home can be found, or lost pets are reunited with their guardians.
