Blackjack Animal Rescue & Catahoula Connection is a 501c3 organization. Our primary mission is to rescue catahoulas, catahoula mixes, and other breeds from kill shelters in the southeast.
We rescue over 150 dogs per year from animal shelters or less than ideal living conditions. Our annual budget makes the following possible: rescuing the dog from the shelter, initial vetting of the dog, transport to a foster home or boarding kennel, and receiving routine and emergency care to ensure the dog will be adoptable. If the dog tests positive for heart worms, we ensure the dog gets treatment which can cost $600 - $1000. Once placed in a foster home, we observe the dog’s overall demeanor and personality to optimize compatibility with an adopter’s existing pets and family.
Please go to www.blackjackrescue.org and fill out an application under adoption info. We have dogs placed in foster homes in many states including Indiana, Tennessee, North Carolina, Virginia, and Connecticut. Our adoption fee for puppies is $350 and adults is $300 which helps to cover the costs associated with rescuing and vetting.
Once your application is received, we will check references and call you to schedule a meet & greet or home visit. Depending on your location, the home visit may need to be completed by a rescue organization that is local to you. Once approved to adopt, pickup or transport will be arranged for your new family member. It is our preference that you are able to personally meet the dog near the foster home to transport.
We are advocates for catahoulas, catahoula mixes, and other needy shelter animals throughout the southeast, including Texas and Louisiana. We are always in need of foster homes as we do not have a physical shelter. It takes a very special person to open their hearts to a foster dog -- to love and nurture them for a brief period in their life until their forever home is found. Fostering presents the unique opportunity to save lives through on a continual basis, and we thank you for your consideration! Blackjack Animal Rescue will continue to provide for the dog’s expenses including medical, grooming, and supplies.
If you are thinking about fostering or have additional questions, please fill out a foster application at www.blackjackrescue.org and we will follow-up with you ASAP.
We do not have a physical structure, but we have dedicated foster homes in many states. Please have your application completed in order to schedule the home visit or meet and greet.
We are working on a building of our own. Please donate at www.blackjackrescue.org if you can help make that dream come true.
