Monthly Meet & Greet Adoption Event: First Saturday of every month (unless otherwise publicized) at the Brentwood Petsmart Store (Moores Lane). 10:00am to Noon. Always check our Facebook page or website to confirm event date and time.
Bonaparte's Retreat always needs FOSTER HOMES. We cover the costs of all food, vet/med care, and flea/tick/heartworm preventive. The foster home provides shelter and love and helps prepare a dog for its forever home. Most of all, foster parents experience the rewards of caring for shelter dogs during a most vulnerable time and then usher these special creatures into permanent and loving homes.
We often need VOLUNTEERS for dog walking, socializing the dogs, training, and for special events.
If you can foster, adopt, or volunteer, please contact us by e-mail at email@example.com
Our adoption process works like this:
1. Visit our website Bonaparte's Retreat to complete and submit our easy online Adoption Application.
2. If your application is accepted, we arrange for you to meet the dog you're interested in.
3. If you're still interested after meeting the dog, we then arrange a home visit with the dog to insure that the adoption is a good fit for the dog and your household.
4. If everything works out, you adopt the dog. Our adoption fee is $125 (or $75 for senior dogs and special needs dogs; a senior dog is 7 year of age or older). And we have a minimum three-week trial period during which either party can change their minds.
Founded in 2004 by Grammy-winning singer-songwriter Emmylou Harris, Bonaparte’s Retreat is named after one of Emmylou’s own beloved dogs. “Bonaparte had this really friendly demeanor,” she says. “Loved people, very sociable, loved other animals. Once you have the experience of having a dog on the road with you, you don’t realize how lonely you’ve been without one. So he went everywhere with me. He was my constant companion for 10 years.”
When Bonaparte died suddenly in 2002, Emmylou was heartbroken. But her personal loss became the genesis of something remarkable. To honor the memory of her dear companion, Emmylou established Bonaparte’s Retreat in order to rescue shelter dogs and adopt them into forever homes. Today, Bonaparte’s Retreat focuses on rescuing dogs whose time has run out at Metro Nashville Animal Care and Control.
Our Mission: Bonaparte's Retreat is dedicated to providing nurturing care for dogs when their allotted time at a shelter has elapsed. Our mission is to prevent these wonderful animals from being euthanized and to place them in permanent, loving homes.
Bonaparte's Retreat is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization..
