From time to time we may also hold adoption days at Wal-Mart on Hwy 64E in Savannah. During inclement (too hot, too stormy, too cold) weather, we're inside. Come in and see us. Onsite adoption without appointment weekdays from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. except Sunday and offsite adoption days. Please call first to be sure someone will be available to show you all the wonderful dogs. On facebook see photos of the dogs on either Mary Davis or Tennessee River Rescues links.
We need volunteers to help plan and work towards a major annual fundraiser. Please let us know if you are willing to help.
Mary Davis, founder of Tennessee River Rescues, works day and night to save and care for dogs in Hardin County, TN. We hope to adopt out or find rescue groups to place these dogs in good homes. The dogs may come from the local county animal shelter, many dogs come in when the shelter is overcrowded and refuses them, others are owner turn-ins and/or strays. As space and donations allow, more dogs are brought in to our foster care. The county animal shelter does work hard to find placements, but calls on local rescuers to protect the animals from having to be euthanized. The less fortunate are dumped in rural areas or on shopping center parking lots and left to fend for themselves. All donations are tax deductible to the extent allowed by the IRS. We are an IRS - 501 (c) (3) qualified non-profit organization.
Adoption Fees for Dogs: Vary by age, purebred, and other factors. Spayed or neutered, up-to-date vaccinations. We are always OVERFLOWING and will reduce adoption fees on longer term pets if you meet all other requirements. Some medium and large dogs are available for lower adoption fee to qualified adopters. Fees for puppies and special "in-demand" breeds are usually higher. The cost of caring for each dog, whether or not he or she is adoptable, must be covered. Those hard-to-adopt dogs receive the same care as the easily adopted and cost just as much to have spayed or neutered, wormed, vaccinated, and to provide food and housing. We are a non-profit and funding is always needed to help all of the dogs in our care by providing veterinary care, food, supplies, and medicines to keep them healthy.
Some of our adoptable pets are also shown at 1-800-Save-A-Pet. Here's the link: http://www.1-800-save-a-pet.com/shelter71835-pets.html and at http://www.adoptapet.com/adoption_rescue/79030.html
