Our future goal is to have a facility in the Lloydminster area that will be set up to take on the more serious situations that most places cannot handle, such as severe aggression or fear based animals. At this time we do not accept any large breed dogs exhibiting aggression issues, and only accept surrendered large breed dogs that we have met and behaviorally assessed in person for the safety of our foster homes, volunteers and our own pets. Thank you!
All of our adoptable dogs are spayed/ neutered, microchipped, and up to date on shots before they are available. Anyone adopting will need to fill out an adoption application and sign an adoption contract as well. When you adopt a dog from us, we do our best to teach them basic commands and will work through any behavioral issues they may have, then show you the techniques you can use to ensure your new dog continues to progress! We normally like to do a trial weekend and meet you/ your family (including other current pets) before the adoption will be finalized, to ensure this is the right move for everyone.
We are strong supporters of other rescue groups/ shelters such as the Lloydminster & District SPCA and other animal welfare groups such as Canine Action Project (the spay/ neuter clinic specialists in our area). We encourage everyone to donate, become a foster home or volunteer for one of these great causes! Together we can make a difference.
Coca's Promise Dog Rehabilitation & Rescue has been rescuing dogs since July of 2011. We specialize in working with small dogs with behavioral issues, although we do rescue large dogs on occasion. We accept owner surrenders that are exhibiting aggression (small dogs that have been assessed in person by a rescue member only, as we do not have a proper facility to safely deal with large aggressive dogs) or fear based issues provided we have room. Please note there are surrender fees involved- we believe the owners of these animals must be held accountable in some way when surrendering an animal!
Coca's Promise started off as a dog rescue, however we have begun rescuing cats as well due to the overpopulation issues in this area. This is a foster based rescue, which means we need a lot of help from volunteers like you in order to be able to do what we do! We prefer that our animals live in homes with our volunteers/ board members or in approved foster homes so that they will be well started with basic commands and house training before going for adoption trials!
