Who We Are

Mutts N' Mugz strongly believes in giving all animals the chance to live happy, healthy, productive, lives as vital family members. We are dedicated to saving those worthy of such happiness by altering all dogs before placement, providing proper veterinary care, nutrition, exercise, and socializing adoptive dogs.

Many would say that cats/kittens are a dime a dozen..... Mutts N' Mugz says differently. Each cat/kitten has a different personality, each one a different color & size. We believe that each animal is unique and should be loved as such. Our cats/kittens are free roam indoor only pets. They are not kept in cages but are part of the household where they receive proper socializing, love, play time, nutrition, and veterinary care.

Adopting a friend

Adoption applications must be approved, then an interaction time will be setup for adoptive families to meet the dog prior to adoption. Our adoption fee is $250 which includes current on vaccinations at the time of adoption, microchip, spay/neuter, and on flea & HW preventative at the time of adoption. We are currently only accepting applicants who are within an hour to an hour and a half's driving distance of Charlotte, NC.

I Want to Save a Rescue Dog

I want to save a rescue dog that no one else would pick.
But please...
   I couldn't handle one that was too old...or sick.

I want a dog with fluffy hair that's silky to the touch;
A dog I wouldn't have to groom
  (the work would be too much!).

My allergies are bad, and so the dog must never shed
   or jump up on my velvet couch
       or sleep with me in bed.

The size is not important, but the dog can't be too tall.
And while I'm not being choosy,
     I'd prefer he not be small.

Cute and cuddly, sweet and smart
   and one who doesn't chew.
Of course he must be housebroken (my carpeting is new).

A dog who's quiet in his crate (I work twelve hours a day);
A dog who isn't hyper,
   and yet one who likes to play.

Of course all vetting must be done (it's easier for me).
And I don't want to pay a lot
   for an "adoption fee".

Ah, truly warms my heart to save a dog in need.
I'll pick a dog that no one wants:
  a noble choice indeed!

A dog that no one else could love: a homeless dog that's needy....
I only wish those rescues weren't so fussy--
   and so greedy!

Pitbull Poem....

Current mood: Perception....

Life through a Pit Bull's Eyes

You breed me to be strong, Now you think you were wrong. I am man's best friend, Now you want me to meet my end. I live to protect the ones that I love, I'm the best of my breed a step above. I'm as good as you raise me to be, I was not born evil can't you see. I come in different shapes, sizes, and colors, I'm here to serve my master just like all the others. My master loves me as if one of their own, When I walk by there side or fetch a bone. Here is a little history about my kind, Always keep these facts in the back of your mind. I lived in the white house with a President named Teddy, During the 1st World War, I was an American symbol can't you see. Sgt. Stubby was the most decorated war dog and this is no lie. I even lived with the little Rascles once upon a time, I've lived with the brightest man ever known, Thomas Edison he created the light bulb, Now that I've given you some history about my kind, Let me get back to what's been on my mind. I feel for people, who have been attacked, But you can't put all the blame on my back. For I'm a creature put on God's great earth, No knowledge of love or hate before my birth. Why do you blame us all for a few bad ones? Do you hate your children because of a few bad sons? One day I hope you'll realize, For it's you that has hate in your eyes. It's not up to you to wipe out a breed, For only God has the power to do that deed. So just remember as I run along, It's not my breed, but your perception that's all wrong......
John Yurgealitis Jr.

'Twas the night before Christmas, when all through the house, Not a Creature was stirring, not even a mouse; The stockings were hung by the chimney with care, In hopes that St. Nicholas soon would be there;
The children were nestled all snug in their beds, With no thought of the dog filling their heads. And mamma in her 'kerchief', and I in my cap, Knew he was cold, but didn't care about that.
When out on the lawn there arose such a clatter, I sprang from the bed to see what was the matter. Away to the window I flew like a flash, Figuring the dog was free of his chain and into the trash.
The moon on the breast of the new-fallen snow Gave the luster of mid-day to objects below. When, what to my wondering eyes should appear, But Santa Claus, with eyes full of tears.
He unchained the dog, once so lively and quick, Last year's Christmas present, now painfully thin and sick. More rapid than eagles he called the dog's name. And the dog ran to him, despite all of his pain.
"Now, DASHER! Now, DANCER! Now, PRANCER and VIXEN! On, COMET! On CUPID! On DONER and BLITZEN! To the top of the porch! To the top of the wall! Let's find this dog a home where he'll be loved by all"
I knew in an instant there would be no gifts this year, For Santa Claus had made one thing quite clear. The gift of a dog is not just for the season, We had gotten the pup for all the wrong reasons.
In our haste to think of the kids a gift, There was one important thing that we missed. A dog should be family, and cared for the same. You don't give a gift, then put it on a chain.
And I heard him exclaim as he rode out of sight, "You weren't giving a gift! You were giving a life!"
Merry ALL.
