Foster Homes Needed - You CAN make a difference!

If you can open your heart and home to an animal that needs you, please call: 843-688-4414! We need you - the animals need you!

Our Mission:

BCPAWS has a few great cats that were found in the woods and saved from starvation. These cats are not happy living inside a home as they were probably born in the wild. They would make excellent 'Barn Cats" to keep your barn 'mouse and critter free! They are all spayed or neutered and up to date on their shots. For more information on these animals, please call PAWS at 843-688-4414 or Marguerite at 843-708-0566.

How To Adopt An Animal

Please note that we have the right to refuse adoption of any of our animals for any reason we feel applicable !

There is no public shelter to visit. Instead, our companion animals are lovingly cared for in one of our approved foster homes where they can more readily adjust to a family/home environment. To see an animal you are interested in, contact the foster home to make an appointment. Foster names and contact numbers are listed in the pet's information on the Pet List page. Cats are adopted as INDOOR ONLY pets.

All PAWS pets have been examined by a veterinarian, de-wormed, vaccinated and altered. Dogs are tested for heartworm and treated if positive. Most of our dogs and cats are also Microchipped. Cats are also tested for Feline Leukemia/FIV

An adoption application is required and upon approval a contract must be signed. This is our Application to Adopt a Cat. CAT APPLICATION This is our Application to Adopt a Dog. DOG APPLICATION Please download the appropriate application, print it and fill it out. Then contact the foster home named on the animal's page in our Pet List below. You may review the terms of our contract here

Please note that cats and kittens adopted from PAWS may not be de-clawed.

HOW YOU CAN HELP

DO YOU LOVE CATS? WE NEED VOLUNTEERS TO PLAY WITH OUR KITTIES AND HELP CLEAN CAGES. If you can possibly help, please call Peggy at 843-688-4414

Why do we ask for donations? We are not subsidized by any local, state or federal government agencies. We rely solely on donations to accomplish our mission to save lives. In 2003 96% of our expenses were directly related to the care of PAWS animals and our community Spay/Neuter (SNIP) program.

Kibbles for Kritters

PAWS relies on the generosity of other animal lovers to help provide for our rescues while they wait for a home in foster care. We hope that you will think of them and pick up a few cans or bags of pet food or kitty litter when you shop.

Please refer to our WISH LIST a little farther down this page for needed supplies.

Donate a Dog Bed

Provide some creature comfort to our deserving adoptable dogs by donating a Kuranda Fleece dog bed. Just go to Kuranda Web Site and enter our name, Berkeley County PAWS, to place an order.

THANK YOU for helping us to help them!

We couldn't do it without YOU!

The altering of a companion animal is every pet owner's responsibility to their pet and the community. There is no excuse for not having it done. The procedure is safe and simple and your pet will fully recover in 7 to 10 days. It can be done as early as 3 months of age and will improve your pet's health and behavior. It is the humane way to control the pet population. The tri-county area has two low cost Spay/Neuter Clinics that are available to everyone, the John Ancrum SPCA Spay and Neuter Clinic at the SuperPetz in West Ashley, and the Doc Williams SPCA Spay and Neuter Clinic in Goose Creek.

Do your part: Spay and Neuter your pets!

VOLUNTEER!

Volunteers are the backbone of this organization. Do you have Scout troop or a group at work or school looking for a community service project? We would welcome your fundraising ideas. We also need people to help solicit donations of goods and services that can be included in fundraising drawings. Your fresh ideas are needed and welcome.
Call (843)688-4414 and leave a message or send us an e-mail at berkeleycopaws@yahoo.com.
