Who We Are

The PAWTUCKET ANIMAL SHELTER is a municipal shelter that accepts stray/abandoned animals from the City of Pawtucket. Our dedicated staff consists of one animal control supervisor, two animal control officers, a veterinary technican/ officer manager, a pound keeper and volunteers.

Adopting a friend

Anyone interested in adopting either a dog or a cat is encouraged to come and visit the shelter. We are there to help you choose the animal that suits your needs and lifestyle.

The adoption process includes a brief application and review of adoption obligations. There is a $15.00 adoption fee and a SPAY / NEUTER FEE that is now required by the State of RI. (The fee amount varies depending on the animal, gender, weight and veterinarian used --Surgery fees range from $65.00 - $175.00). It is the law in Rhode Island as well as Massachusetts that any animal adopted from a shelter must be spayed/neutered.

Donations are always welcome. All medical donations go to our non-profit organization (the Mobile Animal Safety Initiative) which provides vet care for the animals in the shelter.

Checks can be made payable to the Mobile Animal Safety Initiative and your tax deductible donation can be mailied to:
