Who We Are

Our mission is to find suitable placement for all owner-surrendered and unclaimed stray adoptable cats and dogs after updating them on necessary vaccinations, spaying or neutering, and giving proper medical care. We are a no-kill, volunteer-run 501(c)(3) rescue.

Adopting a friend

Adoption Procedures
  1. Complete the Adoption Questionnaire
  2. Proof of home ownership (copy of mortgage statement or property tax bill) or landlord permission/copy of lease
  3. Veterinary records for current or most recent pets
  4. Adoption Agreement completed and signed.
  5. Adoption fee paid in full, (CASH ONLY)
  6. Cats being adopted MUST be taken home in a secure cat carrier. (Please supply your own.)
  7. Dogs being adopted MUST be wearing a collar and be leashed. (Please supply your own.)

The East Greenwich Animal Protection League has done the following for the animals in their care:
  1. Veterinary examination.
  2. For cats/kittens: tested for feline leukemia, feline AIDs, and heartworm.
  3. For dogs/puppies: tested for lyme disease & heartworm. Heartworm treatment if needed. Monthly heartworm medication is also given.
  4. For all animals:
  5. Treatment for ears mites, parasites and other medical conditions if necessary.
  6. Initial Distemper vaccine.
  7. All animals over 4 - 5 months have been spayed/neutered or for those under the appropriate age, we will pay for the surgery at the appropriate time.

Adoption Fees

Cats 1 year and older are $100.
Kittens under 1 year are $140.
Dogs over a year are $400.
Puppies under a year are $550.
All puppies/dogs have been microchipped and the cost for this is included in the adoption fee.

Meet our animals during Open Adoption Hours at the Cranston Animal Hospital, 1119 Park Avenue, Cranston, RI 02910 (please use the back door) on Saturdays from 12:00pm 2:00pm and Wednesdays from 2:00pm - 6:00pm. To meet our animals during the week, please schedule an appointment at the Cranston Animal Hospital with our Adoption Coordinators by calling 401-943-6333, e-mail onlygirlx33@aol.com for dogs, or cats@egapl.org for cats. Please note that adoptions are not on a first-come, first-serve basis but are based on the best match for each animal. Due to the volume of potential adopters, please allow for time to review completed applications which might take several days. From the southern part of RI, take I-95 N to Providence. Take Exit 16 toward Cranston and merge onto RI-10 N.Take the RI-2/Reservoir Ave. exit toward Cranston. Turn right onto RI-2 S/Reservoir Ave and follow for 0.6 miles. Turn right onto Park Ave and Cranston Animal Hospital (1119 Park Avenue) will be on your right.

From the northern part of RI, take I-95S to Providence. Take exit 16 toward Cranston and keep right at the fork and follow signs for RI-10/RI-2/Reservoir Ave. Merge onto RI-10 N and follow for 0.8 miles. Take the RI-2/Reservoir Ave exit toward Cranston. Turn right onto RI-2 S/Reservoir Ave and turn right onto Park Ave. Cranston Animal Hospital (1119 Park Avenue) will be on your right.
