The Providence Animal Rescue League (PARL) is a non-profit organization 501(c) 3 serving communities throughout Rhode Island and beyond. We receive no federal or state funding and rely solely on donations from generous individuals, businesses and foundations to support our work to provide compassionate care, medical treatment and adoption services to thousands of animals each year.
PARL's Programs & Services
Thousands of animals are placed in loving homes every year through PARL’s adoption & re-homing services. PARL strives to create a judgement-free and caring environment for all community members and their pets in need of services.
Pets For Life Program (PFL)
By providing ongoing neighborhood outreach, community-wide events, and free services such as pet wellness care and spay/ neuter surgeries, the PFL Program is making a difference in under-served neighborhood’s of Providence.
Pet Retention Program
By addressing the needs of pet owners in our community, PARL is helping to save more lives every day. This program offers affordable vaccination and micro chipping clinics throughout the year as well as supportive behavioral and medical advice directly to owners to help keep pets in their homes.
Spay & Neuter Services
PARL offers a community spay/neuter program for cats, dogs and rabbits. It is open to anyone in need and is not income-based. PARL’s medical staff also provides other pet care services such as micro chipping and nail clipping.
This fund was created to provide extra medical care for adoptable animals in need. This includes medications, surgery, and treatment that would otherwise be outside of the scope of regular medical care provided at PARL.
A positive attitude and the desire to help people and animals is what’s needed to volunteer at PARL. Programs include direct animal care, administrative support, foster care, community outreach and fundraising.
Life Enrichment Animal Program (LEAP)
LEAP is a special fund designated to assist with the behavioral care of animals both in the shelter and post adoption. Funds are used to purchase toys and products aimed at reducing stress while animals are in the shelter. Funds are also used to purchase training packages and crates for adopted animals to make the transition a smooth one for adopters and their new pets.
Signature & Community Events
PetWalk, The Rescue and Pints for Paws are PARL’s signature events. These crucial fundraising events are a way for PARL to connect with its community and raise the necessary funds to keep its programs and services healthy and viable.
