Our Mission

Animal Care & Control Team of Philadelphia is the region's largest high-volume, open-admission animal shelter.  Open every single day of the year, ACCT Philly receives over 30,000 animals annually, from dogs and cats, to small animals, reptiles, birds and wildlife.

In addition to an intake and adoption center, ACCT Philly also supports a foster and rescue program, field services by Animal Control Officers, a food pantry for low-income pet owners, and a vibrant volunteer program!

Adoption Policy

Our shelter welcomes adopters 7 days a week! We have many cats, kittens, dogs and puppies of all breeds, ages and sizes waiting for their new homes.

Adoption fees are:

$50 for cats (over 6 months)

$75 for kittens (under 6 months)

$75 for dogs (over 6 months)

$125 for puppies (under 6 months)

The adoption fee includes your new pet's spay/neuter surgery, vaccinations, and an offer for 30 days of free pet health insurance from ShelterCare. Cats and kittens can be adopted two for the price of one through our Adopt-A-Buddy program.

Some of our adoptable pets are in foster homes and cannot be viewed at the shelter.  If you are interested in adopting a foster animal, you may get in touch with the foster care provider directly.  Contact details can be found in each foster animal's description.

We frequently offer special adoption discounts and promotions; ask
