About Us

FOSTER HOMES NEEDED:  Foster homes needed! Fostering is an amazing experience. Contrary to popular belief, not all rescue dogs are "broken and battered" and need months of rehab or TLC. Many of the dogs we place were once loved family pets, given up due to convenience issues, exercise requirements, divorce, job change, move or the arrival of human children.

Fosters provide love, modest training, and a soft spot for the dog until adoption. You get to know them, and we match them up with the best possible fit in a forever family.

Adopting A Friend

**Please note, there are always additional Beagles in our foster homes, but they have not yet been posted to the website. We get to know them for 2-3 weeks prior to listing them for adoption. That way, we know exactly what type of home will suit them best, and we can make the best recommendation for your family.**

Adoption is a serious commitment, and should not be taken lightly. You should be prepared to make a lifetime commitment to your adopted pet.

E-mail us at FHBRinfo@gmail.com for an adoption application.

Our adoption process is as follows:

  1. Application
  2. Vet Reference Checks
  3. Phone Interview
  4. Matching with Available dog(s) - Speak with foster family to determine best fit for your family and for the dog
  5. Home Visit
  6. Meet Matching Dog(s)
  7. Adoption

We do ask for a nominal adoption fee, which helps offset our veterinary expenses. When you adopt a Beagle through our rescue, you are receiving a FULLY vetted dog. All vaccinations (combo vaccines, bordatella, Rabies), heartworm tested (and on preventative), fecal exam, spay/neuter, and ANYTHING else the dog has required medically, we have taken care of 100%.

Please note our expenses on each dog generally exceed the adoption fee amount, so we are NOT "making money" on adoption fees. We rely on fundraising and donations to help offset our incredibly high veterinary expenses.

When you adopt a dog through rescue, you are adopting a dog that has lived in an experienced foster home. We are able to provide an overview of the dog's temperament, habits, likes/dislikes. We know whether they are good with other dogs, children, etc. The dogs are generally housebroken, crate trained, and have normally received at least basic obedience work (sit, down, etc.). We are able to match you with a dog that is an appropriate fit for your family and your lifestyle. Please don't focus solely on the "look" of the dog by looking only at the photos. Please keep in mind your needs/wants, as we hope to make the best possible match for both your family and the dog.

Please note we are all volunteers, with full-time jobs, families, our own dogs and foster dogs, and many hours of rescue administrative duties to tend to each week. We do our best to respond to inquiries within 24-48 hours, but that is not always possible. Please be patient with us.

Who We Are

We are a small group of volunteers, dedicated to finding loving, committed, forever homes for the Beagles in our rescue program. We are based in Pittsburgh, PA, but we have foster homes in West Virginia, Ohio and Kentucky as well. Each Beagle we place has been evaluated in a foster home, received full veterinary care (all vaccines, spay/neuter, etc.). We also provide detailed information about each dog's personality and temperament, which takes some of the guesswork out of it for the potential adopter. After all, we live with these precious foster dogs in our homes, so we get to know them well, and can answer most any question you may have about their routine and behavior.

Come Visit Us

Given we are a network of foster homes, we do not have a shelter facility. Potential adopters can make arrangements to meet the available dog(s) of interest, once they have completed the adoption application process.
