ACES is national breed rescue comprised of a dedicated group of volunteers located all over the United States who give willingly of their time and talent to help these wonderful dogs. Since our inception ACES has successfully re-homed more than 1600 English Setters. English Setters are wonderful family pets and one of ACES' missions is to make the public aware of the breed and educate people about the breed. We are looking for adopters who will make a loving commitment to a rescue dog by making them a member of their family. Rescue dogs can bring with them some challenges but with a little love, patience, and training these challenges can be overcome. Helping a rescue dog to overcome their challenges is extremely rewarding and helps to form a bond between you and your dog that cannot be found anywhere else.
English Setters are a pointing dog, primarily bred for upland bird hunting. This fact often gives people the idea that they do not make good pets. Nothing could be further from the truth. English Setters can excel in obedience, agility, therapy work and being couch potatoes! English Setters are also usually quite "birdy." Birdy refers to their genetic desire to hunt and chase birds and other small animals. This in no way affects their ability to be a loving and cherished companion and member of your family.
If you are interested in adopting a rescued English Setter, please read more about our adoption process on our website. We ask for an application fee as a token of your sincerity and to defray the costs of phone calls and faxes. ACES will check your references and schedule a home visit in order to determine whether an English Setter will flourish and be happy in your home. Once you are approved, we will help you find the perfect match for your family.ACES' dogs stay in foster homes while they are waiting to be adopted. This allows us to evaluate the dog in a family setting and determine their temperament so they can be well matched to their adoptive family, what we like to call their "forever home."
Please visit our website at www.EnglishSetterRescue.org for more information, including adoption fees. We are a nonprofit 501(c)3 organization so every donation is tax deductible. ACES is listed with GuideStar, the national database of nonprofit organizations. We use foster homes for the Setters who enter our program. Our fosters are located in many areas across the country, therefore we do not maintain any centralized shelter facilities to visit.
