Animal Rescue Foundation of Southeastern Pennsylvania Inc.

Animal Rescue Foundation of SE PA (ARF) takes in cats and dogs from area public shelters that must euthanize when full. Pets receive veterinary care and live in a home with a foster family (or at our adoption center) until adopted - as long as that takes. We get to know pets well and can match you up with the right fit for your home and family. Please visit our website at to learn more about ARF and the great work done by ARF volunteers each and every day. Make a difference in a pet's life - think rescue first!

How you can help

There's lots of ways you can help: become a foster home, assisting our P.R. director in running our website, working community outreach events and more. If you can't volunteer your time, ARF SEPA is continually seeking donations to help care for kitties and dogs (food, litter, toys, treats, pet beds, etc.). We always need old towels and blankets (washed please!). You can also organize a fundraiser at your place of work, worship, school, neighborhood or social club to gather supplies or donations to assit with paying for vet care. Every little bit makes a difference. Please email us at f if you'd like to help in any way.

Spay / Neuter

ARF is committed to reducing the number of homeless pets in the community. We spay/neuter all pets adopted through ARF's foster care program. As funds and time allow, we can also run spay/neuter clinics in the community, or refer you to a local low-cost spay/neuter clinic in your area. Who We Are

The Animal Rescue Foundation of Southeastern Pennsylvania (ARF SEPA) is an all-volunteer 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that is solely dedicated to the welfare of companion pets here in southeastern Pennsylvania. ARF volunteers regularly patrol public shelters looking for adoptable pets that may be euthanized due to lack of kennel space. Once taken in to ARF SEPA, pets receive complete veterinary care (including spay/neuter) paid for by ARF, and pets stay with a foster family until adopted into a permanent forever home (as long as that takes). We will do whatever we can to help a pet and find that pet a forever home. For animals that are injured, we'll pay for surgery, If a pet has behavioral issues, we'll turn to our behavioral experts on call. We are here to help homeless pets, it's that simple.

If you are interested in joining the Animal Rescue Foundation of SE PA, please give us a call or send us an e-mail at the contact information included at the bottom of this page.

Adopt - Donate - Volunteer: Think rescue first!

Adopting a friend

Why should you adopt from ARF? For just $100 for a cat ($1 for the second cat if you adopt two together and senior cats are just $65!), and $175 for a dog ($300 for a puppy and $65 for a senior), you get a great pet that has lived in a home, has been checked by a vet, the spay/neuter is included, pets are microchipped, the pet has been tested and vaccinated (and in some cases nursed back to health)... Plus, when you rescue, you are truly saving not just one life, but actually two. When a pet is adopted from ARF, we are then able to go back to a public shelter and rescue another pet to take the adopted pet's place. Since we solely focus on shelters that euthanize, you are truly saving lives when you rescue. That's priceless.

It's easy to adopt from ARF SEPA. If you see a pet you're interested in meeting, just send an e-mail to the contact listed in the pet profile and tell us a little bit about you. An ARF SEPA adoption counselor will be in touch with you soon after to discuss the process and send you an application. We always make our decisions based on what we feel is best for each pet's needs.

You must own your own home or have written permission from your landlord that you can have a pet(s) (no exceptions). Dogs must be indoor (and given access to a yard and/or leash walked), and cats must be indoor house cats only. Also, all canine adoptions require a pre-adoption visit to your home to ensure that you are just as good a fit for the dog as the dog is for you. Feline home visits are done on a case by case basis. The adoption donation is $175 for adult dogs ($300 for a puppy and $65 for a senior), and is $100 for cats (please note that if you adopt two cats together, the donation for the second cat's adoption is just $1 and senior cats are just $65!). Pets are adopted directly from an ARF SEPA foster home, and each pet comes with a complete veterinary history, including vaccinations, testing and spay/neuter, all included in the adoption donation. Our adoption counselors will also provide pet personality information and will follow up with you post-adoption to ensure that both you and the pet are thriving. Thank you for thinking rescue first with ARF.
