WHO WE ARE
Far Point Collie Rescue and K9 companions 4 Life Dog Rescue are dedicated to saving as many lives as possible. We do this one precious life at a time. To accomplish this goal we strive to increase public awareness as to the importance of spaying/neutering and the need for responsible pet care.
Our rescues are foster home based, the dogs live with families while they are awaiting their forever homes. Our foster families work with our dogs with basic obedience, crate training, house training, walking on leash, socialization, and can answer many questions about the dogs personality, character and behavior.
ADOPTING A FRIEND
Our adoption process is as follows:
We require that a pre-adoption application be filled out prior to meeting any of our dogs. We will review your application, check all references, and then schedule a home visit. Upon approval to adopt there is an adoption fee and signed adoption contract is required. Please understand that you may be approved to adopt but you may not be able to adopt the dog you are asking about. We match the personality of the animal to the requirements of the home. If you are looking for an animal that is laid back and easy going and you pick one that we know is extremely active we will not adopt that particular animal to you but rather show you other animals that will fit into your lifestyle and have the traits you are looking for in a companion.
We do the home visit to ensure that the dog that you are interested in is appropriate for the house and yard size that you have. We want to make sure that the dog you adopt is a good fit for your family, your lifestyle, and your home. These dogs have come from uncertain backgrounds and we want to do everything we can to place these dogs into forever homes so they will never feel the stress of being homeless again.
An adoption donation fee is required to help cover the cost of veterinary care, which includes Heartworm Testing, Rabies Vaccine, DHLPP Vaccine, Bordatella Vaccine, Worming, Frontline Plus, Interceptor, and Grooming.
You can acquire a Pre-Adoption application by clicking here.
Then you can COPY and PASTE into an email or a word document.
Health benefits of spaying and neutering
Dogs and cats do not have the emotional need to reproduce that human beings may experience. Unspayed females have a higher risk for serious disease than animals that have been spayed. Breast cancer is a serious killer of dogs. Spaying your cat or dog before the age of one makes developing breast cancer nearly impossible. The risk of ovarian cancer is completely removed through spaying. Unneutered male dogs and cats can develop unsightly behavioral problems such as spraying, lifting their legs, mounting legs, and they can be harder to train. Neutering is a safe and effective way to combat these and many other problems, not to mention ensuring the animals health.
PLEASE SPAY OR NEUTER YOUR PETS
Did you know that you can help prevent the suffering and death of millions of animals?
Almost everyone loves puppies and kittens, but some people lose interest when these animals grow up. As a result, millions of cats and dogs of all ages and breeds are euthanized annually or suffer as strays. Many of these were the result of unwanted, unplanned litters that could have been prevented by spaying or neutering. Rarely surviving for more than a few years on their own, strays die painfully by starvation, disease, freezing or being hit by cars.
Now that I'm home, bathed, settled, and fed,
All nicely tucked into my warm new bed.
I would like to open my baggage Lest I forget,
There is so much to carry - So much to regret.
Hmm... Yes there it is, right on the top -
Let's unpack Loneliness, Heartache and Loss,
And there by my leash hides Fear and Shame.
As I look on these things I tried so hard to leave -
I still have to unpack my baggage called Pain.
I loved them, the others, the ones who left me,
But I wasn't good enough - for they didn't want me.
Will you add to my baggage? Will you help me unpack?
Or will you just look at my things and take me right back?
Do you have the time to help me unpack?
To put away my baggage, To never re-pack?
I pray that you do - I'm so tired you see,
But I do come with baggage - Will you still want me?

GREETINGS WITH LOVE, FROM A LONELY DOG
I wish someone would tell me what It is that I've done wrong.
Why do I have to stay chained up and be left alone so long?
They seemed so glad to have me when I came here as a pup.
There were so many things we'd do while I was growing up.
The master said he'd train me as a companion and friend.
The mistress said she'd never fear to be left alone again.
The children said they'd feed and brush me every day.
They'd play with me and walk me if I would only stay.
But now the master "hasn't time." The mistress says I shed.
She doesn't want me in the house, not even to be fed.
The children never walk with me, they always say, " Not now."
I wish that I could please them. Won't someone tell me how?
All I had, you see, was love. I wish they would explain.
Why they said they wanted mine, and left it alone on a chain?
If Not For You
I would've died that day if not for you
I would've given up on life if not for your kind eyes.
I would've used my teeth in fear if not for your gentle hands.
I would have left this life believing that all humans don't care
Believing there is no such thing as fur that isn't matted,
Skin that isn't flea bitten, good food and enough of it,
Beds to sleep on, someone to love me,
To show me I deserve love just because I exist.
Your kind eyes, your loving smile, your gentle hands
Your big heart saved me...
You saved me from the terror of the pound,
Soothing away the memories of my old life.
You have taught me what it means to be loved.
I have seen you do the same for other dogs like me.
I have heard you ask yourself in times of despair
Why you do it-
When there is no more money, no more room, no more homes
You open your heart a little bigger, stretch the money a little tighter
Make just a little more room...
To save one more like me.
I tell you with the gratitude and love that shines in my eyes
In the best way I know how
Reminding you why you go on trying.
I am the reason
The dogs before me are the reason
As are the ones who come after.
Our lives would've been wasted, our love never given
We would have died if not for you.
